Well less than a month ago my computer got rapped by a hardcore virus, and i was left using ubuntu. Figuring that i would be able to install xp myself i ubtained an install disk and got to work... but i didn't get very far. As it turns out i have a sata harddrive, as opposed to a serial one. And as far as i know i managed to figure out that the xp version i have doesnt support it. Then i thought i could get service pack three and use that...nope i dont have a dvd drive. So does anyone know how i can get this to work?
you need a floppy drive and a floppy disk containing the text mode drivers for your sata controller (should be a disk creation program on the motherboard driver CD). Put the floppy in the driver and boot from CD as normal, and when setup starts, hit F6 (there will be a prompt at the bottom of the screen). A bit later in setup it will ask you to load the drivers from the floppy disk.
