There's this game my dad bought me a while back. I cant recall the name, But I know they had more than 2 versions of it. One was red (which is the one that I owned) and they also had a green one. The entire game was black and white, and if im not mistaken, it had only 3 buttons and a directional pad. Not sure if this helps, but your a robot (I think) that goes around fighting other robots(i think) and you can take their parts and use them on you own robot (me thinks lol) I really loved this game as a kid. Id like to go back to it to beat it. If anyone can help find the name, that would be great. I think i know it, but dunno the name. Did it have an rpg-like overworld and then battles where the enemy fills the whole screen, and you choose a part (head, body, legs) to attack. I have no idea how i remembered all that...
