Help! Chrono Trigger NDS Failure!

Ok...
so I started playing the game for the first time
I got up to the dancing part of the square (in the very beginning)
then the game crashes...

I need help! I really want to play this game!

(BTW I was using No$GBA ver. 2.6 and the rom was from this site.)

I'm pretty sure the reason it crashed was because you were using No$GBA. Pretty safe assumption there.

New error...

during the first time travel sequence (the short clip with the swirly colors after crono got inside the hole)
it didn't change for like 5 minutes!

is it supposed to do that or did the game freeze up on me?

 

Its a copy protection feature that they built into the rom so that you cant play it on a flash card or emulator. There are work around cheats posted in the tutorials section, im pretty sure they work on emulators. You should have searched before posting.

I tried using the cheats from http://cheats.gbatemp.net/
AND the patch file from http://gbatemp.net/index.php?download=3786
but I can't get them to work!

Maybe it's my emu? (I was using No$GBA 2.6a)
or maybe I did it wrong?

BTW I'm sorry if I sound like a total n00b...
I'm totally new at this and I could really use some help..

 

You don't use any of those. Just import the cheats in Utility tab, Cheats. https://www.romulation.org/forum/index.php/topic,11749.0.html

 

jones is right, i had the same problem. A few google searches cleared it up for me, i actually fond a patched version (i'm on a mac and can't use the .exe patching utility), working great for my r4 now. the comments section for the game here has a bit more information on the topic (i know, i know, it's not supposed to, that's why i post problems/solutions here, i can read bolded text).

i this sounds off but can you post the patched version so i can download( and others too) because im looking for it and all i find is how to do it with cheats. im a noob and i just got the r4 card so i know very little.
