Hello, I am totally new to this and I was unable to find satisfactory information so I decided to ask: I have a PlayStation 1 with a few original CDs. The console is not chipped. It works on PAL. Now, as I was told years ago, it should be chipped to play burned CDs with NTSC games. I understand this, but I found a few PAL images (SLES code, which stands for PAL in Europe, just like my original CDs) and I plan to burn them on CD-R discs and then play them on the PlayStation. Will my console be able to play them? I think it should, but am not sure, so I decided to ask first in order to avoid wasting my time and blank discs. Also, can I burn with Nero or I should use another software? Any special settings such as burning speed, etc.? I thought to burn on 2x or 4x.
I read more in-depth that this is really so. But I was wondering if there is a way to burn this boot sector of the original PSX games on a CD-R? I found an interesting package that could possibly allow me to make such an image and then burn it.
See if you can find such a thing. If you do let us know, it may help alot of people... Now then, the easiest option is to just take the suggested advice and just get the console chipped, burn a game and go (yup-that easy) or the swap disc method, it only works with the older ps1 models... I believe it has something to do with forcing the lid up to a certain point and swapping the disc, it may screw up the disc motor because you have to swap mid-spin.
yea hotswapping the disc can hurt the motor just practice doing it while its off (i know it sounds stupid) you gotta be fast and precise you don't want the motor stopped any longer than what it has to be... i used Sled Storm as my swap disc haha because it was melted by a drunken friend of mine and it worked
Whenever you do get your PS1 modded. Burn PS1 games with IMGburn. It's a VERY easy to use burning program that uses very little recources. Best of all, it's free.
