I just want to say "Thanks" for being here. I just found this group a couple of weeks ago and I have to say that it seems to be an awesome group. I like that it is so easy to find things with lots of great downloads and friendly people. I'm a newbie with Ds and am finding the tutorials very helpful.

I'll just say a little bit about myself so I won't be a total lurker. I'm a programmer and a mom. I studied Physics and Astronomy in college, but ended up in programming instead of Science. I really like my job and am pretty much a glass-half-full kinda person.

I just recently got a DS Lite and am having a lot of fun. Before that, all of my gaming has been on a PC. One of my PC favorites is Morrowind - Elderscrolls, but I like puzzley adventure games and all the Sims 2 games.

Anyway - I just got my R4DS card in the mail yesterday and am totally psyched!

Wow. I know not much girls that do or even like programming.

I don't know exactly why, but I find it harder to explain a girl how to program than a boy.
I don't say girls are slower in learning programming languages, but often less interested in them.

Anyways, good to see there are some exceptions. ;D

    Welcome to RomUlation! :)
uhh ... you've probably already noticed that I'm a programmer too.

I hope to see you in the forums, often. :)

    Thanks for the welcome marcy.

About the girl/boy programmer thing.... I've known a lot of techy & programmer people who were both male and female - I think it just depends more on what a person is interested in. I grew up liking Science & Math, science fiction, puzzles, games and building stuff. My brother, on the other hand, was more artistic and a very articulate writer, etc.

I don't really know why/how a person ends up having certain interests, but I think it has more to do with their experiences and who they spend time with than if they are male or female.

Thanks again for the welcome and I hope you have some cool programming projects going on. ;D

Right at this moment I'm sitting in front of a sourcecode that can catch a menu from a website(via php and regex) to display it in another one.
(I've informed that website about my doings, of course)
    (debugging at the moment)

Yeah, I'm thinking the same, but somehow I know more male programmers than female ones and it doesn't seem to change.
It doesn't make sense at all why males would like programming more than females do or vice versa, but somehow (and I'm really going crazy on discovering why) that's the status.
