Hello everyone!

Hello everyone! My name is Aurelia, and I'm a 16 year old Chinese girl living in Georgia. My username Exrael comes from a character name I used on a MUD game called Achaea, and it's stuck with me ever since.

Outside of English, I can speak Chinese and write/read/speak French pretty well. Also, I can say that the majority of Chinese food at Panda Express, etc. has never been made at our house or anywhere I've been in China. ^^;

Wow, the moment I came to this site, I was in shock and awe. Evidently, my ROM-downloading days were still stuck in the dusty olden years when there were only Pokemon ROMs available on some obscure site on Yahooligans. Okay, well not that old, but I remember when ROM downloading for systems larger than a GBA/DS was a dangerous hunt where you could be barraged by a gale of adult advertisements any second. This site was truly an island in a storm, and I'm really grateful for all the hard work put in to it! (Direct Downloads = pure essence of awesome) I have been very much influenced to donate for more downloads, too!

Let's see... I enjoy Adventure genre games (think Adventure Game Studio and point-n-click type) and many other types! For RPGs, I don't like Final Fantasy or Kingdom Hearts very much, but Chrono Trigger and Earthbound are more my type. I currently play mostly a variety of Nintendo DS games and adventure PC games, but I enjoy any type. I am somewhat of a video game hippie, valuing storyline and music and such, but I also enjoy creative gameplay. I love watching Yahtzee's Zero Punctuation game reviews, which I discovered after avidly following his Chzo Mythos AGS game series - it's Freeware, you should try it!

I also enjoy drawing very much; I've been penciling away since four, and I just might update that empty DeviantArt account someday when I have the opportunity to. I ran an artist's table back at a convention, and I draw for friends and for practice often.

I enjoy reading manga regularly, since watching anime is inaccessible (Chinese parents) and slow for me. My favorites are usually in the shonen or seinen categories, like Berserk, One Piece, Eyeshield21, HunterXHunter, King of Thorns, and anything by Jiro Taniguchi. I usually avoid anime series (in the rare occasion that I watch them) that contain voices high enough to burst your eardrums or colors sharp enough to make your eyes bleed (crazily colored hair, moe-style... not my thing...). I cringe at pretty boys, yaoi, yuri, Ken Akamatsu and related authors, and unrealistic girls (both in appearance and behavior, therefore shooting the sweaty fanboys' expectations out of the ballpark and into their lonely, estranged futures... Okay, I went too far), but I tolerate such stuff on the outside, just not on the inside.

I enjoy reading non-graphic novels as well, such as Master of Whitestorm by Janny Wurts, the Dark Tower series by Stephen King, Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson, historical novels by the Shaara family, X-Men novels (they make me laugh), LotR, and Harry Potter.

Outside of sedentary activities, I enjoy working out and running, though lately that has been cut down a bit due to loads of schoolwork and posting an intro like this.

Also, on a random tangent, very few Georgians are hillbillies, farmers, or rappers, and few have a Southern accent.

I don't understand....is it because you prefer retro RPG's or some other reason ?

 

Legend, maybe the games don't really suit here, like me hating the game Final Fantasy for being too long...but that doesn't stop me from playing it ;D

 

It's just that they are very similar games, so I would like to know her reasoning....

 

Ack, sorry for not clearing that up! Hmm... I guess one reason is that I don't like the huge yaoi fanbase usually behind popular games like those, and I guess Chrono Trigger and Earthbound evoked my emotions more. No offense to those series, though! They are great by themselves.

I don't know... all I know is that Yuri, and Yaoi is different... I don't really know what they are though :-\

 

Yoai means gay people, whenm men like each other is a Yaoi moment, when the light catches thenm right or somethign, and yeah KH's fanbase is SERIOUSLY gay.
