Your best option is to use RGF's firmware. You can find it: http://forum.romulation.net/index.php?topic=43121.0 What system are you running it on?
Problem is, with that 'Red Error' on the top screen, which by the way he didn't even bother elaborating what that 'red error' says. Which makes us here have to be psyhics.....anyway, it could easily mean one of these; 1. wrong usage of kernel update (if that's the case, should check if the update file use is correctly for the said cart or not) 2. missing file due to improper/incorrect/partial upgrading process (in this case, should re-do the upgrading by first re-format SD Micro but first back up the SD content before doing so). I would tend to think the problem is more of no.1, since there are 3 carts labelled as 'v.1.4.4', which coincide with his no.3 respond. But if you notice none of it mentioned clearly which of them is or was v.1.59b, which is supposed to coincide with his no.4 respond. Thus my advice should be that he re-check if he did indeed used the correct kernel files and it's updating file package or not. Cause seems to me, he didn't thus resulted to whatever that red error message was. By the way, the latest update version for those carts at current are v.1.63b and v.1.11d respectively. Which one of those 3 similar v.1.4.4 cart is his, is anybody's guess. For now, recommending YSMENU/TTMENU isn't the right moment. Getting the primary/main firmware or kernel of that cart is more important to solve the whatever that red error message informed. YSMENU/TTMENU will solve the running of the rom issue, not the R4's kernel issue.
it is a clone cart it seams upgrade get dstwo are acekard2i if not format micro and try firmware again
