I bought my daughter a DS for Christmas and also an R4 card with a 2 gig SD memory. It used to work perfectly but one day it just stopped working . So I ordered another one and just received it with a new 2 gig SD card. But it doesn't function either. I put the R4 in and start the unit both screens lite then up and on the bottom screen it shows R4 on the top line. When that is touched with the pen the top screen lites up with a small menu Icon and that's it nothing more . The unit functions perfectly with regular DS and Game Boy games though. Can anybody identify and help me resolve this problem. The same thing occurs with both R4 cards and SD cards. Thanks for any and all help.
Well, have you tried cycling the card. Turn it on. Turn it off. Pop the card out for a few seconds, put it back in and then turn on the DS. If that doesn't work, carefully blow into the slot-1 card slot >.>...to get dust out of it. (Like the old days! ;D )
Re: Having a problem with R4 card on my daughters DS and could use some Help Ple what ds do you have, is it a dsi? some cards stop working with the dsi 1.4 firmware. also, what card do you have, specifically,
I have done all of the above and have not been able to correct the situation. The card is an R4 SDHC revolution upgrade for Ds (NDSL/NDS) I even tried setting the clock back 1 year as was suggested by someone else to no avail. I still have the same Problem! Any other ideas and or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for any and all ideas and suggestions!
Duh, if the DS is a DSi the card won't even show... Download firmware from here: http://www.r4sdhc.com/ Downloading could take awhile.
had the same problem back up all your files and reformat the micro-sd card. Redownload the (right) kernel and put it in the root folder. (http://www.r4sdhc.com/) It should work now... oh, It must be the latest kernel
that's all to bad .... There are allot, and I mean ALLOT of R4 clones out there, if you got the original one it's all good, BUT.... neither the site nor people (devs) are updating the R4 version to be compatible with future releases. So i would strongly suggest an acekard2i, I bought mine from http://realhotstuff.com/ *very reliable, upgradeable (whenever a new game comes out that has a new version they patch it), and it has a very professional look to it. the newer acekard's are called (acekard2i) and work perfectly on ALL ds models, yes even the XL's they also sell R4's there but as mentioned before not a good buy.... hope this help dude....
r4 SDHC is a clone, like r4i (gold, ultra, ...) the original r4 can't handle micro-sd cards that are higher then 2 gig. Sorry dude, you've got a fake r4 :s I would recommend you a new acekard or a cyclods you can buy it here: www.shoptemp.net
It ALSO runs 4-32 GB cards. My friend has a SDHC because there were no originals and now he has a 2GB with it.
Just to let you know i'm running 2 R4 SDHC cards, 1 in an old ds (bigger version) with a 4Gb card and the other in a newer DSLite with a 2Gb card. Both are running fine with the V1.34 kernal. The only probs i had with either of them was fixed with power of, reseat cart and card and powering back up again. Hope this helps.
