Haunting Ground (PS2) Downloading Issue

Discussion in 'Site Support' started by Lycanthrokeith, Dec 26, 2013.

  1. Hello.

When I attempt to download Haunting Ground (PS2) and select "Download from North American server," a few moments after the Save box comes up I get the following:

[C:\Users\Private\AppData\Local\Temp\EZrzgi_P.rar.part could not be saved, because the source file could not be read.

Try again later, or contact the server administrator.]

Is this an error on the server end, or something I need to correct on my system (a temp file to erase, etc.)?

    Thanks for any help.

are you using internet explorer by any chance?

  3. No, Mozilla.

not sure what's happening there then, firefox shouldn't be downloading to the temp folder, and the filename looks weird. Have you tried manually setting the download path to somewhere else?

  5. Yes, actually. I have a specific folder set aside for Video Games, then Emulators, then Emulator Type (by console), and I always Save As each time to whichever folder is appropriate. This is the only file where I've run across this error while attempting to download.

can you try the file in a different browser, or with IDM?

  7. All right, I'll try that when I get more points accumulated.

The other browser is not a problem, but what is IDM?

a download manager, which is a program for handling downloads instead of a browser. It gives you added features, such as the ability to resume broken downloads instead of having to restart from scratch

  9. Tried it in IE. It began, and then failed out. The same happened when I tried it again in Mozilla. Worse yet, it already used up my points.

Thanks for the previous and further help.

a download manager is all I can suggest then. I'm pretty sure its your end because we cant control where the file goes or what name its saved under (we can tell your browser what file name it should use, we can't make it use that name).

What security software do you have installed, and have you run malwarebytes recently?

  11. I did a Malwarebytes check, and my PC was clean.

I was finally able to download it on a different PC, but only after temporarily disabling Avast anti-virus. It's odd, since during the Christmas free download period, I was able to download files of both larger and smaller size on both PC's with Avast active. Haunting Ground is the first I've run into that's given me this problem.

    Thanks for the assistance.

reason I asked about security was because of a possible infection or the software itself interfering, which it seems it is. as you said, odd. Are there any relevant entries in the avast! logs?

  13. Nothing appeared in the logs to indicate a problem. Just strangeness, I suppose.
