Harvest Moon: Isle of Happiness -- game options not showing up?

There was a topic that was pretty much identical to this one, but since it was so old, I didn't really think I should necro it. The way I see it, it's been a while since then, so maybe a solution has been found but not posted.

I'm using NO$GBA version 2.6a and the rom downloaded from this site.

The game works perfectly from what I can tell -- except that the boxes for gender don't show up, along with any 'ok' buttons.
I took some screenshots, so hopefully these will help.

 

Try the no$gba addon "No$zoomer"
