Is it just me, or has the whole Halo series been seriously over-hyped? I mean it's not a terrible game, but it's certainly not the best shoot 'em up by a long chalk either. Don't know why the average rating is 9/10 for Halo 3, i played it. Once. On legendary. I was fairly bored. Then I looked at some reviews and went back, played it co-op on legendary, got bored, killed my team mate a few times, wandered off, came back, tried a lan party. Boring, changed to Halo 2 - much more fun. i'm not sure what it is exactly about Halo 3, but it just isn't as good as it's predacessors, in my opinion anyway, for what it counts for, drifting forlornly in a raging sea of fanatic Halo fans trying to smash my brains out with their original massive Xbox conrols. Arrrgh!
I thought it was overhyped from the beginning. I had a lot of exposure to it as my school had just set up a gaming network on the residential campus, and Halo had just been released. I was the only person on campus able to copy it (it had an unusual copy protection scheme on the disc), despite my computer not being able to run the game.
Halo is overrated, I played 3 at my friend's house, got boring after 2 minutes or so. My mate loves it though.
I enjoy the Halo Series, but I'm not an addict, I think it deserves an 8 though.. i don't know, but alot of nintendo's games deserve a 9... ALOT
Halo 1 was friggin awesome, halo 2 was a disappointment, Halo 3 was the worst game I ever owned (yep sold it). Seriously over hyped.
I never really got the whole Halo thing.... There was always better FPS's out throughout the Halo trilogy's lifetime... Halo 1 ? Meh.... Halo 2 ? Meher... Halo 3 is OK...but in no way deserving of all the plaudits....it pisses me off when people call it a great game... or say it's groundbreaking... Halo series has good music though.... Either you're being overly harsh, or you have a knack for only buying good games....
OK I bought halo, played the campaign through, played a little online, sold it. It really was the worst game, I hated it. When I got my Xbox i got Halo3, Forza2, COD4 and Viva Pinata. I still have all bar Halo3. Yes that right, I kept a little kids pinata game over halo3, thats how fast I wanted that game outta my house. And I must say, COD4 hasnt let me down yet.
the halo series is highly overrated, The graphics are decent, but so is every game that comes out now. The gameplay is mediocre and its hardly a challenge, but thats why its sold so well...its a basic first person shooter that any idiot can play, and you can quote me on that >.<
Thats understandable... Viva Pinata is a better game than Halo....because Viva Pinata is a great game....better than lots
I told my friends I thought Halo 3 was overrated, and they were like, "No way! Halo 3 is awesome, and it owns Call of Duty 4!" I then told them that I have my own opinion, and they say, "Good point, but Halo 3 is still better."
I found Halo 3 to be the same game as Halo 2. Maybe cause I didn't pay any attention to the story, and only played each for about 20 min, but still. I appreciate COD4, because it was different then Halo, and it gave me more respect for the soldiers.
Well, most ps3 people will just hate away at this mainstream game. I like Halo1, think Halo2 is a filler and Halo3 a somewhat upgradeable version with more weapons and better online service. Other than that it is in no way a horrible series. I mean Killzone was pretty boring and know ps3 peeps can't wait for part 2 cause it will look, pretty? Same generic shooter there.
I had Halo long before the PS3 and I found it mediocre. We got a lot more fun out of Quake III Arena than Halo.
I agree to an extent.....Halo is a game PlayStation fanboys love to hate.... It's not a horrible game....but it's not a fantastic game...it's good and enjoyable for a time.... But, like Resistance on PS3, there's nothing groundbreaking about it....contrary to the claims of fanboys... And you're dead right about Killzone.....the first was useless.... But for some reason, the second always makes the list of "fantastic PS3 exclusives that will be better than any 360 game evar"...
I don't think anyone has said Halo was a terrible game, Halo 3 was a terrible game for what it sold itself as; a next gen shooter. It has no next gen anything in it. Every single person defending Halo 3 goes straight for the multiplayer like a drowning man will clutch a log. Yeah the online play is good, so what? how much of that is down to microsoft having a better online system than anyone else at the moment? Halo 3 is an extremely average game, even if it had been released on the xbox, and on the pc it stands no chance of been sold to anyone but grandparents and fanboys.
I totally agree...halo is ok but just that...Killzone 2 is like a scream in space it's just Sony's attempt of amping a game that will probably be ...Halo 3...ugh.
The first Halo was popular as it was the only game worth playing for the Xbox for an embarrasingly long amount of time. Marketing combined with fanboyism declared that the game's excellent sales meant it was an amazing game. To its credit, it was a good time. And good times are what games are for. Bungie decided to cash in on that myth and get paid a ridiculous amount of money to release Halo 2, and took forever to do so. With a staff that big and that much time, you'd think it'd be a lot better than it was. It was advertized as having "amazing dual-wielding" in conjunction with the Chief's limitation of two weapons. Which does sound pretty cool if you have zero knowledge of what any other shooter has done before! The game had graphic issues and lagged considerably, with a sub-par story. Of course, the fanboys think it's an amazing story because they've never played games that even bothered having one. I doubt they even know what an "RPG" game is. Halo 2 was not all bad however, as it provided a solid online multiplayer experience and "matchmaking" is probably the best lobby system ever. It also has some nice maps. Not wanting to let such a lovely cash flow stop, Bungie quickly gets to work on Halo 3. They figure regardless of what they do they'll sell at least one copy for every 360, and they were essentially right. The market campaign spinned how popular it would be of course, that the pre-orders were record-breaking and wanting to get it ASAP was impossible. (Obviously this was not the case, as EVERYONE sold copies of the game. Even gas stations.) The clunky and stupid conclusion of the story followed, and armour permutations made it a reason to play through those levels again. The "new" weapons were just old weapons with different skins, and equipment adds very little to the experience. The new maps are painfully bad, and the matchmaking system is but a mere glimpse of what Halo 2 had to offer. To top it all off, Halo 3 is the glitchiest of the series. Plenty armours will dissapear and reappear with no reason. Despite many "updates", this has not been solved. How stupid is that? All in all, Halo is a story about how effective spin can be. By no means bad games, but there are games out there that actually deserve the praise. This series gets it before it does anything.
i have not played halo3, i realy didn't like halo2 thought it was terrible and i didn't like the dual wielding guns as anyone who loved halo1 will know you need your grenade throwing arm free. halo 1 i loved, it was a good game. it had a good all-round play which most fps don't have. you could be trigger happy and just run in screaming or you could take your time and be stealthy.
