Now I come to RomUlation and I see a bunch of NDS games that I don't know how to use. Turns out I need a supercard and superkey and passcard and memory stick or something like that which I'm ready to buy but I'm not exactly sure what happens after that. Could soomeone explain to me how exactly someone goes about hacking his DS and is it risk-free/worthwhile? Any help would be great! Kthx.

Hmm, First you buy a flash cart like R4/TTDS/M3/Games N Music. Then buy a Micro SD.. after that you can download games here and extract it using winrar/alzip. Both softwares has the same function. Copy and Paste the file/s called 2101 Advance Wars - Dual Strike.nds <-- the game is just an example, I'm just telling you to copy and paste the NDS file on to your micro sd, and there you go, you can have fun.. any questions? just ask me bro, I'd be happy to help you.

A flashcart or device that requires a passme or anything else to work is considered a 1st generation device. It's not actually hacking the NDS, just usable with the NDS. R4DS etc. is a 2nd generation device, so it doesn't require any passme or booting tools of any kind. It is definitely worthwhile, but buying a 1st gen device for your NDS is a waste of time and money.

also buying a games n music card is a waste of time and money. Despite the name it can't play commercial roms.

Don't go for the N5ds card. It will damage your ds.

Go for R4,m3,ttds,ncard,dslink or ds fire card.
I own a ncard, works fine for me! ;D

Do you have anything to back up that statement?

You know the N5 is an EXACT clone of R4, so it shouldn't "harm" your DS in any way. But according to the GBAtemp review,, people have reported their DS being bricked by the N5. And don't get a Firecard as it has built in memory.

I orderd a N5 from Quantronics Australia and It cost me $40 to fix. :'(
I own a NCard (same as Fire card with inbuilt memory) and it has worked fine for the
1.5 years that Ive had it.

Should be fine if you get it from a known website, such as dealextreme or gadgetasia.

Wow thanks a lot! So I buy an R4 (where?), buy a 2GB Micro SD (where? (I haven't found any 2 Ggigs only 1 Gigs)) download ROMs onto the Micro SD, power on the DS and then play the games I want with some added functionality. Did I get this right? And where do you recommend I buy the R4 flashcart (which is the best right?) and the Micro SD? Again thanks a lot for the info I think I get it a bit more now!

You can get your R4 very cheap from www.dealextreme.com or www.gadget-asia.com. Buy your 1GB or 2GB Sandisk or Kingston (they're the best) MicroSDs from Amazon.com. You can't use SDHC MicroSDs though. It's very easy to set up, look in the Tutorials section if you need help. If you have a question or problem, don't hesitate to ask :) We have many experienced R4 and flashcart members on the forum.

Oooooh... Wait a sec, other people are saying the CycloDS is better, I'm guessing it's the same as with the R4, buy a SanDisk 2 GB and stuff but what are people's impressions on the CycloDS? CycloDS or R4? Again, thanks a lot.

CycloDS is slightly better because it has a better ROM compatibility rate. It's more expensive though.

So let's say money is not a problem (kind of... I really spend a lot of money on DS games so this couls help) would this link: http://www.realhotstuff.com/cyclods-evolution-p-213.html with the black version + a 2 GB Sandisk Memory Card (at bottom of article) for 81$; would I be set fo everything as long as I can download ROMs?

Yep, that's all you need to play NDS games, as it's a 2nd gen flashcart. 1st gen flashcarts would require some sort of passme or booting tool/device to work. That's actually a pretty good deal, so go for that if money isn't a problem.

One last question, does the website look trustworthy? Because I can't find and Cyclo DS cards on dealextreme or gadgetasia is it still recommended? If so I'll get it as soon as possible and let you know how it works! ;D

Yep it is, the sites I suggested just don't stock on CycloDS, if you still have doubts, read the consumer ratings etc. Good luck!

Thanks again for all your help, now I'm well on my way to saving money! Maybe you should sticky this or clean it up for others who might wonder how to hack their DS.

I won't do that, if anyone else has trouble, I'll just search "Hacking the DS", and link to that. No worries.
