Seen a few mentions of this game around the place recently, and I just wondered how many people play/have played. I've been playing for nearly two years now (I did take a break for a couple of months), and I'm massively into PvP, but have been edging back into PvE to train a couple of characters for PvP purposes so I don't always have to remake my spare character slots every time I want to try something new.

    So, anyone else?

i've been thinking of getting this. but after playing a few other MMORPGs i'm not so keen. combat seemed slow and uninteresting. your charcter would just stand there and every few seconds take a swing with there sword. then when it hit there was a sound like a pillow hit the bed. is that the same with this?

Combat is sort of slow in the beginning of the campaigns, but it builds it up reasonably well IMO. It basically gets better when you're with more human players, and the combat's anything but slow in PvP. Mind you, I've had some tough games in PvE (fuck Gate of Madness in Hard Mode).

Here's a bit of a look into the pace of PvP - most of the higher level PvE approaches this pace but with an assload more enemies: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pPamBRZbVvE

Guild Wars is pretty nice, the only real problem I see that it's really hard to level with just fighting alone.

So you mainly stick to quests more then anything. Not a bad game by any means though. Really fun combat and stuff so woohoo

Yeah, I tend to only level to 10 before hitting Eye of the North and powerlevelling in Dwarven Brawling till 20. Then you can go back and kick ass on the missions you left out.

I honestly can't remember the last time I levelled all the way to 20 without farming XP in EotN, but I guess it was my Dervish or something?

Man that looks alot better than the others i've seen. i read some where that when you leave towns or somethin some can only see people in your party and monsters. is it true? i guess that would help them make combat a little more interesting than others.

I played guild wars for a long time. I got it over 3 years ago and during those 3 years i got all 3 campaigns. I would not buy it now though. They are coming out with guild wars 2 which has 5 races and then you can choose what profession you can be in that race. The game is suppose to be huge as well and make major improvements.

^yes when you go into a town you can see everyone, but when you leave only people in your party you can see. It is pretty nice because then you don't have to worry about people stealing your monster kill.^

Yeah, everything outside town is done in an instance, so it's only you and your team playing. No need to worry about people farming items on a boss you need to kill. PvP is structured as well, so you can't get PKed unless you do a specifically PvP activity like Arenas, Guild Matches and Hero's Ascent, in which it's just your team and the opposition.
