There is a new fix for the game, which indeed works for most flashcarts. All you have to do is download these ARM7+ARM9 binary files, unpack your GTA ROM with DSLazy etc. (be sure to backup first), and then overwrite the existing arm7,arm9.bin files with the ones you download, and then repack the ROM. Is confirmed working, and is playing fine on my R4.

ARM files that fixes it for some flash carts like R4 - patch with ds lazy or similar. For CycloDS and ONLY patch with the arm9 file, leave arm7 alone!

Alternatively, you could patch the ROM using DSATM (etc.) with the Action Replay code: 020FCB3C 22329203
or add it to your flashcart's cheat database in order to make it work with most flashcarts.

And NO$GBA, and all other flashcarts not here should still work. Please replying confirming though.

For users that have other devices, the only thing you can really do is wait for new firmware for a fix, or until someone creates a working external method (firmware, ROM patch etc.) or simply play it on no$gba.

Chinatown Wars will not work on a few flashcarts due to it using a different save type size that the flashcarts aren't compatible with (1MB). Also, the freezing (after the save menu) is confirmed to be either a piracy fix, or some irregular function in the binary, with reads from below 0x8000 in memory in the standard card read routine. All of this could be irrelevant to the saving though.

 

just anyone tried to use YSMenu?
my R4 crash when using it, but it doesn't matter if the game works

 

Using YSMenu should automatically skip the needed ARM7 patch to get past the save data issue, although it still can't get past the save menu.

gbatemp.net has narin, and there are probably some other guys too. Still, I hope that the patch for R4 would come fast, I just know it's not impossible!

 

Does anyone know if the new M3 beta 1.34 firmware would allow this to save?

 

I've always used my R4 and have always been able to patch or fix games to get them working. Now, when I finally need them, they stopped updating the firmware. Does anyone have an idea if I will be able to play this on my R4 in about eh... a week? (Narin, we need you!)

i got it to work on my n5 by arm7 patchin but it freezes after "liscenced by nintendo" :'(

also how can i get it to work on the n5

and no the r4 tactic dont work because its not a direct clone of the system

 

Currently I'm using no$gba 2.5, and somehow it doesn't work with this game. Is there any kind of settings I should change, or do I have to use a save file for that? ???

the tt card will load the game but freezes wen u select a save file!

it seems using web converter, i can't download the save file at all (it stops at 400 kb or 300 or 200)
can anyone provide the converted save file for R4/EDGE/CycloDS
