GTA cheats after patching

I downloaded the GTA China Town Wars pre-patched rom from somewhere on this forum. After patching the rom and placing it on my r4, the cheat option disappeared. I want to know if there is an alternative of adding cheats for it beside editing the usrcheat.dat myself. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

You most likely will need to change the GameID in the cheat database, as patching the ROM would have changed the GameID. Use a program like R4CCE to do so.

Are you sure you can't run the game unpatched using the backup cheat at the bottom of the list? Try that first.

 

Won't the game be unable to play if unpatched?

 

No, because you enable the cheats that come in the database you can download from cheats.gbatemp.net

Enable the cheat for the game on your card.

 

I did. The master code for the original GTA is different from the switched arm7 one.

 

Use the clean ROM, no patches, and enable the cheat code "BackUp Activator/Game Fix Code"

 

But isn't the clean ROM the one that can't access the save file?

 

That's what the cheat is for, it modifies the game slightly so it can create and use save files.

Trying to get the cheats to work on the switched arm7 ROM of GTA: CW.

 

But does the game fix cheat not work on the clean, unpatched version? If the game works that way you should use it since it's easier.
