Hello everyone, I have tried to find out as much info as I possibly can, it's not much, but hopefully it will help you, help me! Be aware, the issues I had a long time ago I found the issue for, and they may have caused the issue I'm now encountering to occur. All issues stopped for a good 2 months after I put my computer on it's own breaker/outlet, and now this happens. I am *attempting* to run an ASUS GTX 480 Dual-SLI configuration. For the longest time, I have had no trouble. Starting about a week ago, Windows has disabled my second GPU, and pops up with Code 43 in Device Manager. One of the problem codes was 0x0000002B. I first assumed this was a Driver problem, so I did my routine proper uninstall.. Uninstalled it with the uninstaller, disabled Windows update, went to Device Manager, and uninstalled it, including the driver. Rebooted into Safe Mode. Ran DriverSweeper, cleaned all that, once again, rebooted into Safe Mode, and removed the Nvidia Registry Keys with CCleaner. Now not too long ago, maybe a month and a half, I did a clean install of Windows, everything worked A-OK. Since the above steps, I decided to clean out the inside of my computer with Canned Air(I do this routinely twice a month), after that, I booted up, and it let both cards run, so I enabled my SLI. A little bit later, I was noticing a BUNCH of short, pause-like freezes, so I disabled my SLI, and alas, the card was disabled by Windows again. When I was in Safe Mode, I checked Device Manager for any errors, and there was one on the same card that Windows keeps disabling(Known as Generic VGA Adapter in Safe Mode), it said "This device could not be started". Now what I'm curious of, is if there's anything driver-wise that I could do, should I RMA this card(Still under warranty), or is there some sort of way I could make it start SLI before booting and disabling the second card, to where I can see if it may be a problem that having SLI enabled will stop it from stopping the card? My specs are: Intel I7 @ 3.07Ghz 8GB DDR3 1333Mhz(4 x 2GB) ASUS P6T7 WS Supercomputer Motherboard CorsairHX 1000W PSU 2x ASUS GTX 480
Generic VGA driver in safe mode is completely different to the video card drivers. try starting up in normal mode with one card at a time (try both) if one is bad then RMA it.
