On this site i think it would be cool and also easier if in the forum there can be a solved button that the thread holder can press when the problem is solved.
So when people are looking for someone to help it says solved in brackets next to the name of the thread.
So people trying to help know if its worth going to so you dont waste time going to it if your trying to help them.

Hope this is taken into consideration.. =]

I think it could be a good idea. :)

    I've certainly seen worse suggestions.

It would be hard to go through all the hundreds and thousands of posts to say that it has been solved though. That could become a huge problem.

    I second to it.
It's also prevent anyone who like to post on older thread which had been solved.

The thread holder presses the solved button when they are satisfied with the help....
And if they don't a moderator or something can.

How do I know if this will be taken into consideration.

It will also help with that aswell.

I guess a moderator or admin will tell you if they like the idea or not.

I'll just have to wait until a moderator or admin sees this thread then.

Just wait for their reply. :)

Its a good idea which they could start now (or whenever) and not go back and give it to other posts,.

Not many people would know about, remember to or even bother using such a button, unfortunately. Having mods do this would increase their workload immensely.

Good idea, but I doubt it'll work well in practice.

If it is implemented into the rules it could be possible....
Even if the majority of people use this it will be helpful in my opinion.

I'd say that not enough people read the rules, either =/

I doubt any but a handful of users would use this feature. What percent of the user based do you think use the search feature now for support type issues? I'd be willing to put money on less than 20%.

If you make a button which is big and obvious in a couple of places it should work e.g

    Next to post button

    Up the top

    and other places

Maybe it should be a self-thread lock button

It doesn't matter how big you make something, people will still ignore it.

It sounds like something that'd require modifying the forum code for, and I think Seph has said before that he doesn't want to do that.

There should be a mod for this, I'll see about getting it installed once the new release candidate of the SMF 2 is out.
