I don't think so, Firefox surpassed IE with only three versions. I don't really think there's a browser that could do that, just Opera, and even with that one, the odds are small.

Opera used to be awesome, especially its blocker functions. But after version 9.50, it just sucked ass.

Firefox surpassed IE simply because IE sucks so bad.
The even bigger move to firefox is because of IE7.
I still have IE6 for random things like my school's website, windowsupdate etc.

Firefox surpassed IE in one version, and totally pwned it with just 2. The 3rd one is rather unnecessary...

Opera was good for awhile. Good thing I still held onto my older versions.

It's all because of AIM that I started keeping older versions of stuff.
I still use AIM 5.2 (before AIMutation, I had AIM 4.8 with AIM+)
    Azureus 2.5.0.4
    IE6
    Firefox 2
All of my CD/DVD burning stuff
Adobe Reader (downgraded to 5.0 on the desktops, kept 7.0 on my laptop)
RPG Maker 2003, first release, unpatched.
Some ancient version of iTunes (before AppleMobileDevice)

I think it's oldversion.com's motto, "because newer isn't always better."

Google Chrome won't run on my computer so that's a thumbs down right there.

I like that it's fast, but it doesn't have the same features Firefox does, like whenever I go to gmail, facebook, or here, whenever I visit the page, I'm already logged in.

On Chrome, I only get the save password thing, not an actual auto-login.

Yeah, it still is on Beta phase, it's better to wait a little while and try it out later.

I'm confused why have they made a google web browser as firefox is owned by google it seems pointless to have to browsers from the same company

FireFox is owned by Mozilla Corporation, not by Google.

I'm trying out Chrome right now, and I have to say, it's pretty damn fast (comparably fast with FF 3.0). I love the history/download windows plus the intuitive "home" screen when you open new tabs. It IS rather lacking on some of the advanced features/options that I have been accustomed to with Firefox, but this is the first beta release, so it's understandable. Other than that, it's a good browser to try for the time being, although FF 3.0 is still my default browser.

One other good thing: you can resize the text boxes, at least the quick reply one, which I use. I also love the history/bookmarcs system, much more intuitive.

Also, one other thing, it uses much less resources, which is good for my no$. :)

but don't get your hopes up beta's can sometimes be quick cause they are not filled with all the shit that helps you surf, so when that all get put in there with a full release it may be slower.

    Why, I ask why?

As none of you, I'm sure, has read Google Chrome's license agreement, you might not be aware of this. So read it.

Apparently, Google wants to own everything we create with Chrome, since blog/forum posts (as this one) to e-mails we send. And I ask: why would they want to own this post.

Oh, and Seph was the one who put up the link in the other thread. :)

There's other similar articles that I brought up on Google (ha! Ironic!) but that article is the most complete since it talks about sections 11.1-11.4.

This thread is made of complete failure and bliss, so I'll just post this here as well.

    Google Chrome:
    - It's as fast as fucking Dragonforce. I shit you not.
    - It opens like it's the intro to "Through the Fire and the Flames" too.
    - It uses very little resources, we're talking 2/5 - 1/2 of what Firefox does. Fucking hardcore (like Dragonforce).
    - It lacks add-ons that I love in Firefox. I'm sure these will come, and when they do, I plan on making the switch completely.
    - INCOGNITO MODE. Plus, the humor. I mean, the humor on the blank incognito tab is fucking hilarious already.
    - Instable flash, I notice. I assume this will be fixed, as it's the first bloody BETA release. SO STOP THE BITCHING.

I was using Chrome as my default browser but I do love my flash (youtube videos) but I went back to Firefox. I plan on switching back to Chrome once Chrome gets noscript, ad-block, or other equivalents. Once Chrome's community grows and it's not a day into the first BETA, I can see this thing raping Firefox.

    For now though, Firefox still.

    ------------

    You've been blessed. Thanks. Bye.

Oh, and one more thing: Firefox is a gem of an open source. There's a reason Google used parts of it for Chrome. Don't let anyone else tell you otherwise, because they're fucking lame and such.

Google always seems to try to make applications in sorts, like Gmail, Gears etc. I will be anticipating where Chrome will lead to though.

IMO, Chrome will never surpass Firefox. After all, only 2 or 3 of the desktop applications Google developed became successful. Plus, Firefox has a devoted user base, so it will take a lot of innovation on Google's part to get users to switch. Not to mention the thousands of Add-Ons available for Firefox, which make it unbelievably customizable. To me, this is more important than a milli-second saved when loading pages.
