I've got a huge problem that needs an easy fix.

I have over 2,909 SNES ISOs.
I would like them renamed and fixed.

This is how I would like it set-up:

Folder [Name=90 Minutes - European Prime Goal (EUR)] -> ISO [90 Minutes - European Prime Goal (EUR).smc]
However, they are like this: 90 Minutes - European Prime Goal (E) [!].smc

Is there anyway to rename the '(E)' to '(EUR)', remove the [!] (if there, some do not have them) and place it into a folder that is the name of the actual ISO?
I am sure some really really smart person is probably able to make a .bat file to do this, but of course, you really do not.

Is there a program to do this, or could someone make a .bat file?

    Thanks.

SNES games are in the form of ROMs, not ISOs :p

Also, by altering/changing the tags on the names of these ROMs like what you said [E] to [EUR] & removing the [!] is totally pointless as these tags have been a standard for a decade now :p Go to which ever ROMs hosting site you know of besides RomU & you'll see that these tags are present there as well.

I've no idea what you'll be doing with these SNES ROMs of yours but if you are say planning to put up a ROMs downloads site of your own removing these tags would be a stupid move especially if you are going to remove the dump quality tags (the [!], [a], [a1] etcetera tags) as these are important information used by people who apply ROM Hack patches to ROMs. Let me explain, take for example fan translation patches. Whenever you download a fan translation patch its included readme file will often contain which version of the ROM you must use (often indicated if the ROM needs the [!], [a] etcetera tags) in order for the fan translation to be properly applied. Now if you remove these tags on your collection then how on earth will people know which version of the ROM they should use? Well maybe if they used tools like uCon64, nsrt or snestool they could verify if they've got the correct ROM, but that is if they did know how to use those tools.

I've seen most of your posts regarding ROMs & it is pretty obvious you have no clue as to how these older ROMs work. You've even asked if these older ROMs have AP for Pete's sake. These things are not the same as NDS ROMs that have to deal with AP & stuff like that but they too have their own intricacies dealing with how the ROM was dumped (good, bad, overdumped, interleaved, de-interleaved, headered &/or non-headered), which game revision the ROM is from, which game copier/loader the ROM was copied from (smc, fig, swc etcetera) & in the case of NES ROMs what mapper board the ROM was taken from.

actually some snes games had AP, usually in the form of an extra chip on the PCB.

One game I know of having AP that only activates when you use Game Genie cheats on it is Super Punch out! When cheats are activated the game will not load & will show an error message saying "this game pak is not designed to work on your Super NES".

The SNES also did have a form of region locking in the form of how the cartridges physically look. The Japanese cartridges have flat backs while the US ones have little divets below the backsides that fit into two tabs on the cartridge loader & if you try to load a Japanese cartridge on a US SNES the Japanese cartridge will not fit in.

I think Earthbound had one where it had increased enemy rates and once you got to the final boss it erased your save file or something like that.

    Complex answers.
I am not intending to host a ROM site, but merely having them for collection purposes.

I am attempting to rename them, to look more like my NDS and GBA collections.

So, it is stupid to remove tags...?
    Can I do this then:

Process all the ROMs using some kind of program.
Add all the ROMs with the same name to a folder with that name. (eg. Super Mario (U) and inside that folder all the Super Mario (U) files)?

Then rename the folders (U) to (USA)?

If your SNES ROM collection came from RomU you've probably already noticed that each ROM set are already archived into one folder. Say you downloaded "Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals", once you extract the Lufia II archive you will have every version of the ROM available for you. And since you wanted every version of a particular ROM in one folder then all you have to do is extract each archive into its own folder & not extract them "here" (onto which folder you downloaded the archive).

And since you said you just want to have these ROMs as part of your collection then why not just have one copy/version of each game instead of getting every variant? Having every version is kind of pointless IMHO, just get the one which is compatible with your emulator &/or ROM Hack/Fan Translation hack & trash all the rest.

My collection didn't come from RomU.
It came as a SFX archive, and just extracted all of them to same folder.

So, is there anyway to do it?
And once again, it is for COLLECTION purposes only. Not intending to host a ROM site.

You could try one of the apps available here:

    http://www.zophar.net/utilities/multisysaud.html

The very first item might be what you're looking for.

Judging by the way I don't even know what 'regular expressions' means, horrible.

    I'll try that.
    Is it similar to RomCenter?

You've probably found the solution to your problem by now but just in case you haven't, I would like to recommend the renaming tool that I've been using for ages now. It's called Ron's Renamer and it's great. It is efficient, very flexible and easy to use. You can do pretty much anything you want. You can download it for free (unlimited free trial) on the RonsPlace website: (ronsplace.eu/RonsPlace/Products/RonsRenamer.aspx). Good luck.
