For some reason iv'e been getting a lot a stupid popup adds while browsing sites (in fire fox) that i couldn't get rid of by deleting cookies.

and have since found ad block plus

which blocks that shit good and i would recomend to others - bonus forum adds have now vanished [IMG]

feel free to post similar gems here if you want.

AdBlock Plus is pretty much the best.

There are a couple types of Ads that can still get by it though. But they are rarely used.

I whitelisted the forum, but not the main site, that can get scary :D

Hey TirithRR, if you get an ad that gets through, you can manually block it by adding it to the block list. You can see what can be blocked on the page by clicking the ABP sign in the top right.
And seph, i block all the pop up ads on this site, the really annoy me.

    They also pay the bills.

It's not the URL that makes it through, it's crafty flash embedded video sites that put a fake banner over their real video, so clicking play is the equivalent of clicking on a link. The video is real and begins to play, but it opens the link in a new window too.

So it's not the URL, it's the type of ad.

You wanna block everything on FireFox? Use the no script add-on, that thing blocks everything, ads, flash, jave etcetera.

AdBlock Plus + Flashblock on everything but my favorite sites ;)
If you're using Google Chrome/ Safari / Opera a better and simpler adblock would be Privoxy.

ad block plus, and firefox. it can be completely customized to act almost like IE7 and can completely replace it, without losing any performance except newest silverlight or some crap.

right click on an ad and choose to add it to your adblock plus. that is really helpful.

whitelist RomU or have no more RomU, click to hide adult ads in your profile on romulation's homepage and just enjoy the minimal number of ads there are.

if you allow only exception cookies, make sure to add RomU to them then it will keep ads from popping up when they're not supposed to, am i correct that the full page invasive ones are on a timer?
also report non functional, virus, expired and other RomU ad problems to the big guys, they'll fix em.

Anyone, please correct my errors, i can also help you ad hotmail and netflix support to firefox .
