I need to install some very fast SSDs(Solid State Drives). I'm not looking to spend more than 250$ each. I plan to put 2 of them in a RAID 6, unless I can get 1 larger one which will be faster. I'm kinda hoping someone can list the Pros and Cons of each brand, the different sizes of SSDs, and the differences between them all.
SSDs are really not that impressive, You'd likely do better with a set of 15k rpm SAS 6g drives. I have one of the best SSDs on the market and it wasnt really worth the £100 I paid for it. unfortunately its not just brand that matters, the controller used is the major factor and they dont tell you which it uses. The intel enterprise SSDs are widely regarded as the fastest and (mostly) most reliable, but they've all had their share of serious flaws. Unless you can get DRAM SSDs (uses ram rather than flash) then I wouldnt bother. Also you need at least 4 drives for RAID 6
