    Thoughts? Other than "Fake"?

    Tabloids... that's all.

It's a Sloth, apparently, that has rotted/been eaten. Top photos are doctors to make the skin look smooth and strange, the bottom photo is left alone, and passed off as "a day later". Likely all the same time frame, just the first ones are modified to make the animal appear odd.

Hrm, if it is a sloth, it must have been waxxed...

It's too shiny to be much else.

But it does have a hint of fake-ness to it.

I hate ppl like those kids:
Kid1 -"Oh, what's that strange animal here?"
    Kid2 -"Dunno... Let's kill it!"
And now it's "desperate bid to defend themselves"
If this article is real, those little bastards could have killed some rare, thought to be extinct animal or even unknown specie...
I hate you ppl, seriously... :p

The "shiny" images are doctored to make it look that way. It's really just a rotting corpse, like in the last image. Even though it says the last image was later after the animals picked at it, it's more likely that the original photos all looked like that and were just edited to make it appear strange and make for a good tabloid entry.

after i looked at it for a minute, it did kind of resemble mew or mewtwo

but I do believe it is a sloth, if you look at the bottom photo, it has claws that resemble a sloth's claws
