Forgive me if this is not the correct place for this topic, but I have failed to find a better suited place. As this is technically a question pertaining to technicalities of a game and getting it to work, I have put it here.

I am trying to back up a copy of God Of War 2 for PS2. I successfully created an image file of the game using DVD Decrypter. I have used this program on about 100 PS2 games and have not had any problems to date. I then copy the image to a DVD disc using Nero or any other burning program. However, God Of War 2 is about 8 gigs and exceeds the regular size of a single layer DVD. Thus I have tried numerous times to copy it on a dual layer DVD and every time I copy it, there seems to be some problem with actually playing the game. It constantly freezes in certain locations or the game doesn't want to load or save data. Basically it does not copy properly. I have successfully burned other PS2 dual layer games such as Metal Gear Solid 2 and have had no troubles with that. I also do the burning process with minimal speed and my dvd rom drive is capable of copying Dual Layer discs.

What I am asking is if there is something I am doing wrong in my procedure or is there a special way to back up God Of War 2? Is there any special program I should use?

I don't know how much you can do about this, unfortunately. God of War II is indeed dual-layered, DVD9. Many modchips have issues with this, so it's not strange. There's been lots of issues I've heard of regarding God of War II regarding this specifically, too. The fact that MGS2 worked (which you also claim to be dual-layered) is strange though. Perhaps MGS2 was prepatched (DVD9 -> DVD5).

... Just did some googling, you might have to do something like in this tutorial in order to run God of War II. :-\

Thanks Void. That tutorial is great for ripping it. Guess I might have no other choice. I really would have preferred to keep it as is but this is better than nothing. I would much rather have the ripped version. Will work on that. Thank you for finding that tutorial.

MGS2 is definitely a dual-layer game. I made the ISO myself from the original copy of the game and burned it on a dual layer and played it on my PS2 no problem. Does not make much sense.
