GBC or Original Gameboy Flash Cartridges?

First and foremost, since this is my first post, i'd like to say hello!

Next, regarding the title question: I know very little about emulation with regards to consoles, handheld or otherwise. I have used pc emulators in the past, but not so extensively. It is likely that i will have many basic questions to ask.

It seems as though DS flash cartridges are the norm nowadays, and that the R4 solution is the most convenient and available. I have also found some GBA flash cartridges.

I own an original gameboy and a gameboy color; it would appeal most to my sense of nostalgia to have flash cartridges that were compatible with those ancient systems. I have read that there used to be a Hong Kong company called Bung Enterprises that provided a PC link that would load ROMs to regular GB cartridges, however it seems to be difficult to find this product nowadays. Does anyone have any information on this or am i chasing a ghost?

I hope that this is an appropriate place for this question.

Personally it sounds complicated, those old dinosaurs are annoying to set up.

Here is my idea, you mentioned you have an r4 correct?

As much as I detest those outdated/faked things, you can use a device called the "ezy 3 in one" flash cart.

It has built in ram for the internet browser rom, rumble for rom games and allows gba games to run, it technically only has enough room to hold one game and sav data...

But it works in tandem with the slot one cart (the r4) so you store the games there, select them from the r4 menu, and they shall boot in gba mode :)

Plus the fact it can hold one game and sav, you can still do stuff like gba/gamecube linkage for those special unlocks :)

These aren't that hard to find ethier, but you might need to buy them online.

I think the OP wanted to play GB/GBC games.
Anyway, I think if GB/GBC flashcarts did exist, it would be petty much impossible to find one. If you do have a DS and flashcart, then there is a GB/GBC emulator called Lameboy that works very well. But that's all I can think of.

    Thank you for your suggestions.

I did not previously have an r4 cartridge but have decided to get an acekard 2i based on your input. I especially appreciate the suggestion of lameboy, and through researching that i found NESDS which i will also try out. I still haven't decided on the ez 3-in-1.

I did find something relavent to my original search, unfortunately it seems to be a dead end.

I can't beleive this site is still around, i think chances are slim anyone is home. The last update was in 2000, and all links to other websites lead to phishing sites. Still, it's encouraging that i found anything at all.

I have also considered whether there are any leads to be found in the circuitbending community. Seems as though a few of them are familiar with the retro tech i'm looking for.

Anyway thanks again for being friendly and helpful!

They would only write to GB flash cartridges, not normal ones. Normal ones contain ROM chips which are (as their name suggests) read only. The flash cartridges contained NOR flash which the linker could rewrite. This was used for both GB flash carts and GBA flash carts. Your best bet nowadays would be - as others have suggested - Lameboy.
