I've got a hacked PSP; CFW 5.50 M33. I'm using gpSP Kai 3.3 to emulate the GBA games. From what I've played, all have worked but one: Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge. I load the game, hit New Game, it goes through the text, and when it goes to continue to a cutscene, Banjo and Kazooie walk out of the house and it acts up. It does one of three things: 1. Freezes on image; no sound 2. Freezes on image; glitchy sound (as if you ripped out a real gamepak from a GBA) 3. It resets to the 'Gameboy' logo (when you turn on an actual GBA), and reloads the game. Case #2 usually follows after this one. Any help? Please and thanks =D
I upgraded from 3.3 to 3.4, and got the same thing. It must be a compatibility issue. Thanks for the help TirithRR.
Try gPSP-J, the newest version. It's in Japanese, but it works. You can check to see if you have a bad rom.
thanks, I'll try it. I got the rom from here. Plus, I can play past the part on VisualBoy. Is there a way to check this? I just googled one and dled it.
You can find a good copy of a GBA Bios here: http://forum.romulation.net/index.php?topic=6326.0 You may have to rename it to be the correct name that your GBA PSP emulator is looking for.
Everryone else has got the answer...but I'm curious. There is no 5.50 m33 series, it's 5.00 m33, is that what the psp says?
Thanks, TirithRR. My bad. Tried to name the firmware off the top of my head. It's actually 5.50 GEN-D3.
*update* I downloaded gpSP J 100211, and when I go to load the emulator, it says some things in Japanese, and then resets back to the PSP main loader. Help? Please and thanks =D
Yep. It doesn't work. It's not going to work no matter how many versions of gpSP you try. :\ I have tried a few and they all do the same. The gpSP-J version doesn't even run as many games as gpSP Kai - http://pspslimhacks.com/psp-emulators/game-boy-advance/ That one still doesn't work with Banjo-Kazooie, but it has more compatibility than the gpSP-J.
