    Hi!
I'd like to ask if any gba emulators exist for ds/dsi/dslite,and if not the reason they don't exist.
I came up with this question while looking at a dsi (no gba slot(slot2)) and reading that:
1)Gba games will be available through online store and
2)reading that some games need gba hardware to play normally

Sorry if this has been posted again, and thanks in advance for your answer

No such thing as a GBA emulator for the DS. The DS isn't powerful enough to emulate GBA (it's too difficult to squeeze enough power out of it). And I don't think GBA games will be available to download because the DSi is missing more than just the GBA slot. The sound hardware required to play GBA games is also missing from the DSi. So no it's not possible.

yes but is it easier to emulate snes,a non-portable console? and why is there a gba slot on ds/dslite
when you put the original game or expansion pack doesn't it emulate?

It's not emulation. It uses the GBA hardware.

Exactly. The DS/DSLite effectively has a GBA inside it. The DSi has some of that missing (the sound hardware to be specific).

you can play GBA roms on a DS/DS lite but not a DSi. But with the DS/DS lite you need a ram expansion pack (like the EZ flash 3 in 1) that goes into the GBA slot. You will also need an application called GBA_Exploder which was developed by someone named rudolph.

Like Fredbox said, the DS/DSLite basically has all of the GBA hardware inside and the DSi doesn't, therefor you won't be able to play GBA games on the DSi

    hope that helps

Althought, it's not actually the RAM that allows it to play GBA games, it's the fact that there is something in the GBA slot with a GBA game in it.

yeah, but the extra ram is always nice to have

in my opinion, the flash carts wouldn't be nearly as amazing without the expansion pack, but that's just me

    Yes I agree 100% with that :)

...I wonder why people keep asking about a gba emulator for ds-it already has a gba slot, the ds games boot differently and thus can't do gba emulation...

Unless they do what I saw from a snes/ds solution-convert it to a ds appilcation format (it converted an .smc file to .nds format-but was unstable and only worked with a few games-but they may need to try something since dsi owners lack the option of gba slot expansion...)
