I think they can go up to 1.6GB.

I've never seen one larger than 1.35 GB.

All gamecube games are 1.35GB in size.

Yes, with some compression of games.....some can be as little as 15MB. For example Animal Crossing (U) and Bust-A-Move 3000 (U).

But, once extracted the .iso or .gcm should always be 1.35GB. If they're not, you should use Fstfix to pad it to the right size.

i've seen a few games that go over 1.35 gigs, and some are under, there isn't really a set size for the games.

    1.35GB is the set size.

As I previously said, any games that are under 1.35GB have all had their dummy data taken out. By using Fstfix the .gcm or .iso file will become 1.35GB, which is the standard Gamecube ISO size.

The mini DVD-R discs that the gamecube supports only can hold 1.5GB. It really wouldn't make sense that there are games over 1.5GB would it?

    ...

I have noticed this, as I'm thinking of a chipped gc :)

Mention some names-but if it's killer 7 or re4-those were meant to be 2 disc XD

Does it really matter when you can burn them onto 4.7s?
For multidisc games though, I'd make a multiboot ISO and just have it on one 4.7.

You can buy this mod that let's you fit a full DVD into the tray, or just play it from a modded Wii.

Yes, that's true. But, a Modded Gamecube even with the mod that lets you use 4.7GB DVD-R can only play a disc that is smaller in size than 3GB. A Gamecube cannot read any disc that contains data over 3GB, with or without modification.
I was just proving the point that 1.35GB is the set size. Of course in the end it doesn't matter if you play the game on 4.7GB DVD-R.

Do standard DVDs even fit in the GC? It uses 8cm discs.

    Just FYI to people

Gamecube games MUST be 1.35 if your planning on burning them.
I repeat THEY MUST BE 1.35GBS

if you're planning on using them on the gamecube, yes, you'll need to pad them.
on a Wii, it doesn't matter.

    Yeah dumb question time!

I assume you have to have a modded Wii to play burnt gamecube games?

Yes, and you'll need the gamecube launcher to run them. Here's the list of compatible/incompatible games.

Yes, that is a good Compatibility list. I also use this compatibilty list, which I find has more rarer games tested.
