Game cube roms Can they be played on Wii?

I tried to burn one on a disc and play it on my wii but it didnt work =[

Does anyone know how to make it work?

if you don't know how to check.
-go to the wii button on the lower left-hand corner of the screen.
-go to system settings
-Version of wii is on the top-right-hand corner of the tv screen.

and to use it, you must soft-mod your wii. Or you can do a mod-chip, but it lessens the console's life and is hard on the system.
