well, Guess what? My Torrenting speed reaches a Peak of 18 kbps! I'm trying to find a way to speed up torrenting, but unfortunately when i try to open a port, people always refer me to Portforward.com or that thing, well, it doesn't connect, i get a broken page every single time, it's like it's banned over here or something. So, I can't open a port from that site, is there any other site that will help me open a port though a WGM124, or a Vonage Modem? Please! I can't handle those slow download speeds! even though my normal downloads are still slow, So is there any possible way to speed up downloads through portforwarding without using www.portforward.com, or any other possible way of speeding up downlaods without getting a different internet provider?
Hehe, I usually get about 30. Anyways, I have forwarded a port before. I just logged onto my modem settings by typing in my IP address, then in one of the options there, I forwarded a port.
I can't forward a port... my internet provider blocks that.... so any more bright ideas on how to speed up downloads?
Well if you use uTorrent or something (because I assume you want to speed up torrent downloading), there's several tutorials that will show you how to optimize it.
You cant foward a port? thats new to me. Also do you use a router? because unless you use a router then you shouldn't need to foward your ports. Also unless you know what your doing it can get a little confusing. Do you know if your ISP provides you with a dynamic or a static IP? because to foward your ports you will need to set up a static IP first.
i use utorrent and have forwarded my port. almo you got it wrong, the ip your router conects to can be dynamic and is best if it stays that way, its the computers ip that needs to be static. Kamage portforward.com does not do it for you its just a tutorial site for every router and helps you step by step but its prettey easy. if you give the model name and number of your broadband router i'll have a look and post up a simplified version for you to follow
WG124, and by number, do you mean my serial ID? yeah, it's still confusing, I stopped trying after about two hours?
can't even find anything called a wg124, that can't be the make. i need the make and by number i mean modle
thats pretty much what I ment, just confused people by leaving out the details lol. I was asking if his ISP gives him a static IP because its easier then, and if not then he'd need to set one up
even if the ip set by the isp was static, it'd make no differance as the ip bitween the computer and router still needs to be made static as it is by default dynamic and the router gives the pc a different one every time they conect to each other. but it doesn't matter as this is the easyest bit of the process
