I create this debate thread because Some people claim that First cousins cannot marry because they share same grandparents. To myself, i think they are marriageable. Since they only share about 25% to 12,5% of blood relation. What do you think about it? Oh and this link may be a good help.
Go ahead and shoot me for this, but in most cultures (western prehaps) it's common practice not to have feelings of marrige/sex/love other than for family. So nothing to do with cousins I say.
In other cultures it's common and legal for first-cousins to marry each other. If you're really concerned about the inbreeding, someone could always just adopt. Or construct a robot child. I like the latter...
Stay on topic, people. Another reason why they can marry is, i think only Nuclear family that is has the most blood relation.
I was told by one of my mother's indonesian friends that it's ok to marry a cousin. ...except the rest of the family would down on it, thus defeating the damn purpose of getting THAT close to blood!
When my child is old enough, I'll reproduce with him. I don't care what anyone thinks, I just want pure blooded offspring. Not some muggle piece of shit.
God, that made me laugh. Please people, don't marry blood relatives; that's how American republicans are spawned.
Incest? hmmm, for me, no. maybe a 2nd cousin degree is ok, but 1st counsin degree is like, having your spouse from your brother or sister...
This is a bad idea genetically. Since DNA randomly mixes during reproduction, a recessive defect is way more likely to show in family than in random people. Actually, this is one of the main reasons there are so many stories about sick and defective royalty in ancient times, such as Eqypt. Defects are magnified rather than dimmed. It's like comparing a muffler to an amplifier. Other than that, I have moral problems with it but it's not my choice to affect your lives.
I believe first cousins marriage inbreeding only increase the grandparent's genetic disease's chance by 3%
