Plug-ins not being compatible is the reason I'm still holding back. :)

Yes the public stable will be released very soon, and Adblock Plus won't be compatible with it since it's a new browser version, the creator will make a new version once a Public Stable is released, chances are he won't make one for a beta, because once the stable comes out, it might not work.

I doubt firefox 4 betas are publicly available even if they exist, considering that 3 is still in beta.

Is this what you're meaning? It's only an Alpha, beta doesn't exist of course. http://www.avivadownload.com/2008/03/10/mozilla-firefox-40-alpha/#more-1254

firefix 3 beta 5 keeps changing, it's little aesthetic things: beta 1 looked like v2. missed beta 2 and 3, beta 4 had rounded buttons (still minor memory leaks) and beta 5 has realy interesting buttons now. i hope teh whole range is available as a theme

EDIT: although there's one thing i liked in the original beta 1: the spell checker. it was a period of bliss, my posts had no typos... i can't seem to find it anymore in the recent betas

The spell checker is still there. Firefox 3 Beta 5 fixed my Yahoo! Mail issue.
