Final Fantasy XIV Online Developer(s) : Square Enix PDD 3 Publisher(s) : Square Enix Designer(s) : Hiromichi Tanaka (producer), Nobuaki Komoto (director) Artist(s) : Akihiko Yoshida Composer(s) : Nobuo Uematsu Series : Final Fantasy Engine : Crystal Tools Platform(s) : PlayStation 3, Microsoft Windows Release date(s) : TBA 2010 Genre(s) : Massively multiplayer online role-playing game Mode(s) : Multiplayer Media : Blu-ray Disc, DVD Input methods : Gamepad, Keyboard and Mouse A new Final Fantasy series, this time is the 14th installment, and it will be in MMORPG like its predecessors was, the XI. It has been confirmed, there will be 5 playable races, Hyur , Elezen, Lalafell, Roegadyn, and Mi'qote.
The requirement is still unknown, maybe a fairly powerful computer will do, perhaps more than that. However, some sources says, the minimum specs of this game maybe similar to The Last Remnant. Well, just wait until it is confirmed by SquareEnix on the later date, possibly when the Beta version was announced. and it may consume around 10GB of hard disk space, like the Playstation 3 version.
And like its predecessor, if they charge me to play online, I'm gonna have to skip this one. I bought a PS3 for free online play.
Most likely will be just like FFXI but prettier. FFXI was ungodly version, all FFXI was a free MMORPG at heart with a FFXI skin all over it, wasn't different at all from any free MMORPG you can find.
if you have to pay monthly i wont be getting it, can buy a new pc with the money i would save over a couple of years
Have you seen this review? http://uk.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/finalfantasy14/review.html 4/10 sucks. Has anybody played it yet? Is it as bad as that?
I haven't played it, but I've heard all over there's no motivation to play and it get's boring really fast.
Damn. Well, I won't be playing this then. My computers couldn't even play the last Final Fantasy MMO, so I automatically know this is out of my computer's ability. D:
The really slow paced solo battles already made me gave up the game. This is worse than FFXII EDIT: Just read the reviews adn wacthed the gameplay. Seriusly, Square is a old and (possibly) smart company. They will never, ever, let they release this game for public. just give back the money of the beta testers and maybe sell the game engine for a company with enough patience to use it.
In case you haven't noticed, the game is already released and out... I think the pre-orders got to start playing back on Sept 22nd, everyone else on the 30th. I played the closed beta, it wasn't that bad (I got in because of my FFXI account, giving me early access to the FFXIV closed beta). I played FFXI for about 4 years, If I still played MMOs I would likely be playing FFXIV right now. The FF MMO games are a different monster than your usual ones, and they appeal to a different (almost completely different) type of player than say your WoW player or your Korean-styled MMO with an Item Mall player. The FF MMOs have been story driven. And rather than the story being something laid out before or after the fact in various books or side notes, it's a story that you play through. The MMO components have been built around this story. It was FFXI's attempt to implement the classic RPG game into a massively multiplayer game, rather than just create a massively multiplayer game with nothing more than a never ending supply of monsters and the ability to level up. FFXI succeeded, and before anyone brings up WoW subscription numbers, just remember that you don't have to be number 1 to succeed. FFXIV is no where near perfect, and it misses a number of improvements that FFXI has made over it's 8 or so years of running. So much so that it is hard to believe that the FFXI team is behind the FFXIV game. While non-FFXI players see FFXIV and think "What the F*&K is this S&@T!", the FFXI player sees FFXIV and thinks "Why did they do This this way, and not this way like in FFXI where it was much better". My main complaint while playing FFXIV was not the battle system or job system, I actually enjoyed that. It was different, refreshing, almost Final Fantasy 2-like. My issue with the game was the user interface. The control layout should have been done exactly like FFXI's controls. For the PC, FFXI had the perfect setup, playable fluidly with the keyboard alone, not having to use both keyboard and mouse, or switch back and forth, etc. When I logged into FFXIV for the first time I thought "OMG, why did they ruin such a perfect control scheme?"
No, it's for the PC. In fact, it's for the PC first, PS3 release comes out at the end of March next year. FFXIV PC http://www.amazon.com/Final-Fantasy-XIV-Pc/dp/B002I0JJ2U/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1287270427&sr=8-2 FFXIV PS3 http://www.amazon.com/Final-Fantasy-XIV-Playstation-3/dp/B002BRZ79E/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1287270427&sr=8-3 Just like FFXI, it's a multi-platform MMO, and users from all platforms get to play with each other, and are not separated.
Really they must have just anounced it then. They said nothing about it at E3. That i can remember anyway. Post Merge: [time]1287278397[/time] Anyway maybe they will fix all the bad crap for the PS3 version.
It wasn't just announced, the closed Beta had been going on for months. It was pretty much announced when they announced it at E3. They said the PS3, with the PC unconfirmed, but the PC was confirmed within weeks of the FFXIV announcement at E3. Being that it's an MMO, the PC and PS3 versions will be exactly the same. You can only hope that the version updates in the next 4-5 months fix the issues users are complaining about.
