final fantasy viii / 8 help

    hi im running ff8 on epsxe and i cant see the fight menu when i enter a fight nor will it load after the experience screen it shows what items iv collected then instead of going back to the game it just stays black. does anyone know anything about this? thanks in advance.

    it's a configuration problem, I've run FFVIII on epsxe no problem. What version of epsxe and what plugins are you using?

    im using the version 1.6.0 and the plugins are video: petes d3d 1.76. sound: petes dsound audio driver 1.5 and cdrom: epsxe cdr wnt/w2k core 1.52(though i use isos) and im currently operating on vista.

    well the dsound driver won't work on vista for a start, cos vista doesn't have directsound. Have you checked the 'fixes' option in the video plugin config?

    yeah theres nothing ff8 specific and the sound actually woks fine im just confused on the whole lack of showing the menu thing cos you can still select everything you just cant see what your selecting then once the fight ends it crashes on a black screen after the exp screens

    its ok this thread can be locked/deleted now i only had to change the video driver to nice from fast to get it working i also checked the first special fix but im not sure which one made the difference
