Final Fantasy 8 problem

I didn't know where to put this as it's not emulation, but it's still gaming

I'm having trouble with Final Fantasy 8 on PC, nothing major but it just bugs me.

The game itself runs smooth and the FMVs are sweet but the graphics for normal gameplay are strange, it has weird lines running through everything.

I've taken a print screen to show you what I mean



I was just wondering if any of romu had come into this problem before or knows the cause of it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is that a scanlines?

Tell me which PSX emulators did you use.

 

I already said, it's the PC version, no emulation

I haven't try the PC version yet.
But, try to tinker the Graphic Setting(If available.) ;D

 

I'd say the game doesn't like your video card. FF8 is a very old PC game, and is a 16bit program. Much like using 64bit OS to run 32bit programs, there are some compatibility issues when running older 16bit games on a 32bit OS.

 

I'm having that one and I'm experiencing the same problem too.
Try googling, some people have made a patch or something to make it's graphic more decent.

This is a Final Fantasy VIII launcher that might help you, I'm already using it and no more of those black boxes.
But it still not perfect though.

Yeah I usually would use my PS1 or PS2 but I want to be able to play the chocobo game that you need a pocketstation to play :s
