My game keeps freezing at the exact same spot each time, during the fmv when the missile crashes into meteor, it freezes when all the lightning and debrie is happening. The music plays in the background. It is ff7 disk 2, from this website, disk speed normal. Please help.

What program did you use the create the Eboot? What custom firmware are you using, and do you have popsloader installed?

I used impalers multi eboot creator, and i dont think i need popsloader since i never needed it before now to run my psx games. Im running firmware 5.50 Gen-D (Full)

You need popsloader to run some PSX games correctly, otherwise the game will freeze or have other glitches.

Check out this pops compatibility list to see what version of pops you should use to play Final Fantasy 7

why has it worked up until now perfectly without popsloader then?

Because the errors only appear during certain parts of the game.

    Use popsloader.

i downloaded popsloader, but it is still freezing at the same spot. Is there a specific version i have to use, or is my eboot busted? Can someone link me to a version of ppsloader that works flawlessly with ff7 and on Gen D-2?

What version of pops did you choose to run FF7 with?

    I downloaded this one: http://www.psp-hacks.com/forums/f118/popsloader-full-pack-for-5-50-gen-a-t248345/

And i chose 4.01 and it still freezes at the same spot. I redownloaded disk 2 off this website and it still freezes as well.

so, could it be a problem with the iso on this website, or my version of pops which had no effect on the game what so ever, or my firmware?

Have you read the compatibility list?

When you start a game with popsloader enabled, it asks you what version of POPs you wish to load the game with. It will remember that and load that particular PSX game with that version of pops from then on. When you start it again and hold, I believe the L button, it will bring up the menu again to allow you to change what version of pops you wish to load the PSX game with.

Ok, i got it to work using 3.71 and there havent been any other problems. Thanks for your help!

Also, on the compatability list, it has pops versions after 4.01, how do i get those?

You can either extract them from the official firmware using the methods in the guide at afterdawn. Or you can choose the "from flash" version which uses your current firmwares version. Or you can try to find a download with more versions of pops to put in your plugin folder.
