    Hey everyone,

On the first disc of FFVII, right after I complete the first mission and go downstairs at Barret's hideout the screen goes black. The sound keeps going but the screen no longer shows anything. I am using the PSX emulator v1.13. Any help is appreciated.

    Use ePSXe 1.5.2
    Pete's OpenGL2 Driver 2.9
    Nice Default settings
Any special game fixes related to FF7 should be enabled.

I'm using ePSX3 1.5.2 now and after some tinkering managed to get it to run. However, when I go into a battle, it slows down significantly. I'm running it on a laptop and am sure my video card isn't the greatest but I didn't have this problem when I was running on the other emulator. Do you know of any settings for me to change that would help? I'm using my driver's default texture quality. Below are my video settings. Any help is appreciated.

Turning your disc into MDF images with Alcohol 120%, will help with speed!, and music with games like tomb raider that helps fix some crashing issues

1.7.0 has issues with squaresoft games.

As for graphics plugins, theres a few very easy rules to get the right ones:

    Always use Pete's plugins

If you have a Nvidia graphics card/chip, use pete's opengl2
If you have an ATi graphics card/chip, use pete's directx
If you have anything else, use pete's dx6

for all of them, use the 'nice' defaults, a frame limit of 35fps, resolution of 800x600 (PSX native) and enable the relevant 'special game fixes'

Any problems after following these rules is most likely hardware related.
