you need to update your version of winrar.

    Hi,

Could you please give the full name of the rom image you downloaded? In this thread here, the conclusion was that the 1st disc was no good, but that discs 2, 3 and 4 were good images (The version being the US version; did you download a different region?)

Also, just for the sake of clarity, was the extension for your downloaded rom image .rar or .7z?

Finally, could you please share your version of Winrar, so we can determine if it is fact a "Loserar" (antiquidated Winrar containing diluted win)? Loserars have a higher propensity to act funny, especially with .rars made by more recent winrar.

As the saying goes, the devil is in the detail, so please provide more of them so we can (possibly) help you further.

    Hope that helps.

    Hey,

    1. (PSX) Final Fantasy Disc 2 of 4 (U) (SLUS - 01295).7z
i download it from the europe mirror ( by the way ffIX disc 1 of 4 is good on the europe mirror)

    2. 7z

    3. WinRAR 3.71

    Options:

    1) Try a different mirror

    2) If it's not the mirror, then get winrar 3.80. I think in that version, .7z files can be opened by winrar.

    Hi again,

Hard to say...I don't want to download the rom image to check, seeing as I own several versions of it, but I'd surmise there's nothing wrong with 3.71 (3.80 is the next one up, but 3.71 is capable of handling .7z). I'd try the 7z File Manager; it's freeware, easy to install and can pack/unpack .7z (obviously). Perhaps it's not playing right with Winrar however my gut feeling is that your download is corrupted.

If one goes from that assumption, I'd probably suggest looking for a FFXI torrent off the web (there's out there, I checked but I can't list them here), excluding the discs you don't want to download from your client. Bittorrent is IMO the best option if seeds are available. Sure, you have to upload, but you're pretty much guaranteed rom integrity, as it ditches bad hashes and re-downloads them if they are found. You could try a different mirror, but it's your call. What may work for some might not work for others and I don't think you want to waste more points, do you :-\

Finally, I'd try the emulator option if you are able to unpack the .iso from the 7z archive, but if the download itself is corrupted you don't have that option.

tl;dr I'd recommend bittorrent in your case.

    Hope that helps.
