I'm just curious is it possible later in the game to go back and rescue and unpetrify Blank at the Evil Forest? The game makes a suggestion that it's possible to do so.
No, it is not possible. If it is done, it's done sometime after the story ends, and not during actual gameplay. Similar to Red XIII's father, his petrification is permanent. (Even though petrification throughout the game is easily cured.) It is a plot line death, so it is permanent.
Yes it IS possible. Garnet and Steiner are given the 'Supersoft' by Dr. Tot when they are partied with Marcus in Treno. They then split ways and Marcus heads off to the Evil Forest and frees Blank. TirithRR...Do your research before answering a question like this...You obviously weren't paying attention to the plot when playing FF IX...
Sorry, it was nine years ago when I played the game. Do you realize how many games and books have been through my mind since then? Edit: It seems he isn't a playable character afterwards anyway.
Well that's fair enough. Even though the question didn't include anything to do with him being a playable character once you'd freed him.
Actually, you do play with him for a while. He can't learn any abilities, but you can equip him. My advice: don't equip him. Once he plays through that part of the game, he will never join your team again, and you will lose whatever equipment you put on him. EDIT: Wait... Did i just screw up here also? He's only playable before he gets petrified, right?
I remember being able to play with him after he was cured =/ I think it was an assistance in a battle though.
That's true. Blank, Marcus and Cinna all appear in Alexandria to help Zidane and the others rescue Garnet from her mother and Kuja.
