I've heard they're planning to make it on the psp and 360, but just in case people should sign the petition incase that's fake...

Hmm.. Square Enix don't have enough creative juices left in them eh?

Remakes are ok, but new titles would be even better.

They shouldn't have let Hironobu Sakaguchi & some of the others who followed him leave the company, it's very obvious that those guys had most of the company's creative minds with them. :(

They know that PS3 isn't going to get them the best sales, they won't just leave it to PS3, PS3 sucks! :p

no console bashing, if you can't make a supported case then don't say it.

Okay then, PS3 sucks because it's 1-Too expensive. 2-Only good for graphics. 3-Small selection of games. 4-The controls are the worst and 5-It's not very fun to play :p

that's your opinion (a poorly constructed one) but if they make this game it will be on the PS3 as it will be the only one capable of running it how they want it.

No it won't the xbox 360 is perfectly capable of running it like the ps3

One of the reasons going around why the PS3 isn't faring well on the current Gen console war is the cost. Because of the high prices of the parts used on the console, Sony had to make the PS3's price a bit hefty. Another is the optical media used, even though the Blu-ray won the fight over HD-DVD, the general consumer base isn't quite ready yet to move onto Blu-ray.

Then Sony made the decision to cut costs by re-designing the PS3 & take out some of the more expensive bits & pieces, a wise move, only if they did so in the first place. Now the Console is lagging behind the Xbox360 & the Wii.

As for game Developers & publishers, the PS3 seems to have suffered the same fate the N64 did during it's time, system specs have made it so that lesser known publishers don't have enough resources to develop games aimed at the PS3's specifications.

Ok, provide sources of informational support for items 2-5 please.

That may be true, but keep in mind it's ultimately up to the game producers to decide which platforms they want to release their game(s) on.

That's not to say I like the PS3, (and in matter of fact, I would prefer the XBox 360 myself) but I can't stand fanboyism going around as people just spout off opinions without providing evidence of support.

Sources for 2 is because of blu-ray and 5, Sources for 5 I've played them both myself and the nds,360 and wii were much funner that's why I haven't bought it....
But yeah, I would of bought it if it was improved, not as expensive and still played previous console games...
I really used to love sony stuff until the PS3 and I agree I was a bit over the top... Sorry

That's not a valid source of support. Why don't you cite an article at least that indicates those aspects of the PS3 to be true. Your experience and opinion itself alone doesn't count as a valid source of evidence. Learn to present your ideas properly.

Hey i'm awesome at debates usually but I can't be bothered to do big long posts on a forum over something I have a varying opinion on, don't get me ranting Hypr, I know how to debate! I got an A* for a debate piece of coursework!

    Let's get started, shall we?

First, Square-Enix will not listen to some stupid online petition. They never have, and probably never will. It's been tried before, for example.. to allow the creators of Chrono Resurrection to continue. Didn't work, so you're just wasting your time. Thread should probably be over, right there. But let's continue on...

Secondly, they might be remaking FF7. For what? Who knows. For sure? Maybe. What they did show was a tech demo of White Engine (now Crystal Tools) running something that was thrown together for E3. THEY DID NOT CONFIRM SQUAT. At the end of Crisis Core for the PSP, they made it look like they would be releasing FF7 again, but then again, WHO KNOWS. They didn't officially say anything. Speculate all you want, I'm not believing anything until it looks 100% legit or comes directly from the PR presses of Square-Enix. This doesn't fit those requirements.

Next. The PS3 is expensive, sure. But you're getting a Blu-Ray player out of it. If you're into HD content, it's a bargain since most BD players are about the same price/more, and are severely lacking features. I'm not too big into paying $30 for a movie in HD, so I settled with the 360. It's all personal preference. Each system has its high and low points. The 360 is lacking disc space but has a unified memory architecture. The PS3 has set spaces for RAM and VRAM (256mB a piece) but has 50GB of space on each disc to use. It's not that one system is always better than the other. They're equipped for certain tasks, and it's up to the developers themselves to use each system's advantages. Some systems have many CPU units, some systems have easy SDKs. It's a gamble for developers, and in the end it's in their hands. Don't be surprised to see a parity level between the PS3 and 360 soon, what with Crystal Tools and Unreal Engine going cross platform, amongst others.

Continuing on, a system isn't intrinsically fun... it's the games that define the system. Developers have the responsibility to make a system fun, not the system manufacturer. While the manufacturer may have a vested interest to make it fun and may throw muscle and cash in that direction, they can't do anything about it, outside of making their own games for the system. If you want to complain about games not being fun, complain to EA, Activision, and other developers for making shoddy ports or putting gamers on the back-burner for quick ports to cash in on the Wii.

Ending this, your debating skills do appear to be a bit weak, cjdogger. May I recommend, like everyone else has, that you back up your 'opinion' with facts that either you can prove or can generally be agreed on by all? Google certainly can help you with this task.

i find it funny because the controls have been basically the same since day 1. and I believe they work well since there's no getting used to the controls.

technically XBOX360 has the exact same setup, all of the same buttons in the same spots, just the location of the joystick and the length of the triggers are really all that is different. if you are saying that the controls suck, you must be basing in on the overall feel of the controller, not how many buttons or where they're located.

and nintendo has had control issues on every system from N64 on.

oh yeah and i love my ps3, it is the only system out there that I can play several 720p movies on, without a disc.

i really wish they would remake ff7 simply because i tried playing it on my ps3 (the original) and i just can't stand the graphics anymore.
however, i will still play ff8 to no end.

if they really do remake this, i bet you the ps3 sales will burst through the roof.
we all know there's millions of ff7 fanboys out there that will go to any means to play it, even buying a brand new ps3 just for one game.

Dunno about you. I can stream 1080p movies to my 360 over my home network.

My friends have a 1.5 rule that I firmly believe in. I usually don't buy a new system until the cost of all the games I want, added up, equal 1.5 times the cost of the system. I never regret purchases.

my ps3 can run 1080p but my monitor only goes up to 720p...reason why i said 720p.

i know the xbox can run HD DVDs but they don't make those anymore.
my ps3 doubles as a HD entertainment system and a gaming console. the internet is my only complaint, but then again, it's FREE.

sure you may have the 1.5 rule, but i doubt everyone else does.
4 or 5 games usually add up to half of the cost of a ps3, including an extra controller.
