Im using an R4 and whenever I reach a certain point it freezes up.
I am in Owen's tower and I turn my party into toads to get to the next bit. However, when I dive in, my screen turns black but I can still hear the music. I don't know if this is part of the game but I have waited for a while with nothing happening.

    Can anyone help?

I suspect your microSD may not be fast enough.

Sorry I'm kinda new to this stuff but, what does that mean and where can I get a faster one?

Get a Kingston or Sandisk and also upgrade to the latest r4 kernel.

Thanks everyone, I will try that.

But really, what does it mean when you say my SD is too slow? My other games are doing fine and even FF3 was okay up to this point.

some games are more intensive on the media than others, and require a higher read/write rate. This is not a problem with real carts as they are faster than flash carts because the design is different. Your problem is the microSD card you have cannot sustain a high enough read/write rate, so the program (i.e game) crashes while waiting for a read/write operation to complete.

One thing to try before you buy a new MicroSD card is to backup your save games and then reformat the card. That should defragment the card and increase read/write speed a bit, perhaps it will be enough.

I'm sorry but as I said earlier, I am new to this stuff. What do you mean by reformatting and how can I do it?

When you insert the memory card into your PC if you right click on it there should be an option to format the card.
