I have recently downloaded an NES emulator known as FCE Ultra. I wanted to play Super Mario Bros. 2 (known in Europe and America as The Lost Levels) on it, so downloaded the FDS (Famicom Disc System) bios required. There is no apparent option to configure the bios o the emulator. Would it be possible for anyone to help?

it is also available on snes. and those emulators don't need bioses.

I like the original more than the SNES remake. This emulator in fact does need FDS bios configured to run the game. I would not have made this thread if not.

I was referring to SNES emulators not requiring BIOS files.

Oh. Dearest apologies. Thank you for the information. Anyhow, I've configured it now, so moderators, feel free to close the topic.

Well how about telling how you managed to configure it so if another user goes here looking for a solution said user will actually find it. :)

Okay, then. Simply place them in the same folder as the emulator. Nothing to it.
I was a fool to not realize, eh? I suppose that's how life works.

I had this problem also! what name does the bios have?

I still can't get FDS games to run on my psp using Nester J.

I've tried all sorts, I have the bios, right one for sure.

WHAT DID YOU NAME THE FILE AS?

I'll try your method with the FCE port for psp, maybe that'll work :)

I read in FCEUltra's FAQ that you must rename the fds bios file to "disksys.rom", doing this will turn the rom file into a "real media metafile" then put it in your FCEUltra's route directory for it to run.

BTW, I've also been searching for the Japanese SMB2 a.k.a. SMB Lost Levels nes rom too, can you post where you got it from, if that's allowed & was it really in fds format, weren't there any regular iNES format of it??

To make the game genie rom file usable in FCEUltra (although the emulator's cheat system works better & codes for NES games are offered at Cheatzilla.com in FCEUltra format) rename your rom file to "gg.rom" which will again become a real media metafile put that in your emulator's folder then once you start you emu, choose "game genie" option in options menu then voila! everytime you load a game you start in the game genie screen!!

Oh one last bit, there're 3 known copies of game genie rom files around, make sure yours is titled "gamegenie(Uni).nes & its actual size if you look at its properties is exactly "286,726" bytes, coz that's what you need.

Or you could get a ready to use gg.rom file as sendspace.com it's there somewhere.
