You can only choose one game , thats all. Its got to be you FAVOURITE out of the series. ~ Psychotray ~
I've got to go withthe original...Even with the robotic controls and dialouge. Was a great play and it lead to the many wonderful installements and improvements in the series. ......" It might be handy for you..The master of unlocking.." You got to love it. HoustonTX224
Except the game boy color isn't made by sony Didn't we have this exact post a few weeks ago, even down to the poll?
Gaiden? Wasn't easy for me, lack of ammo, too many enemies, i can't kill them fast enough for them not to do damage, way too annoying of a game
There are a few games missing: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Resident_Evil_Survivor http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Resident_Evil:_Dead_Aim http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Resident_Evil_Outbreak http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Resident_Evil_Outbreak_File_2 You also have to remember that this isn't purely a Sony based game series, thus, more games missed: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Resident_Evil_Gaiden http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Resident_Evil:_The_Umbrella_Chronicles http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Resident_Evil:_The_Darkside_Chronicles http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Resident_Evil:_The_Mercenaries_3D Regardless of game play style, they all bear the RE name and should be included. While I'm here: What's so great about RE4? Honestly, the game just feels like a kinda sub-par arcade zombie game. I felt RE5 did a much better job incorporating elements introduced in RE4 to make a more entertaining experience. RE4 is the FF7 of RE games though. It may not be the best in the series, but damn if you'll be able to convince that to the majority who think it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. I also find it hard to compare 1, 2, and 3 to the likes of 4 and 5 due to the drastically shifted game play style. The same idea goes for some of the ones that I posted that you forgot. The light gun games are a whole different beast. Selecting a favorite from each type of game play style may be easier. You may like one of the light gun games just as much as one of the more puzzle/survival horror games for different reasons. It is far too broad a series to condense so easily.
My favorite is Resident Evil 2, cause I like playing with Claire and I love the old school Resident evil series. RE4 & 5 is good too, but they don't have much of the survival horror if you ask me. I hope Operation Raccoon City is great. Also I'm couting on Revelations for 3DS, which I'm not sure if I buy or not.
Really? RE4 did a much better job at keeping the decency to show that it was atleast an RE game, being that there's a small amount of exploration and a couple of puzzles scattered throughout the game. It didn't feel as much of a shooter as it was. It was slow paced and it felt like it should've been that way. RE5 on the other had was a straight up shooter. While RE4 deviated away from what was RE, RE5 through out any semblance of RE it had through the window, the game became a straight up shooter and it didn't feel like it was supposed to move slow and like a tank like RE4. Near the end of the game the game becomes more shooter like with enemies having actual guns and having one of the worst and clumsiest cover systems ever. Not to mention it took away the couple of easy ass puzzles and took away a lot of the exploration, and it's strange it took a lot away considering there wasn't THAT much in RE4 to begin with. A game like Dead Space 1 and 2 is how to do a scary-ish shooter right with the RE style controls, RE5 was way way way behind the ball compared to Dead Space imo. RE5 started off meh and then careened into a pit of shit once I reached near the end, fuck the ending of the game is so god damn terrible. Fuck I hate RE5. I can literally go on about it all day. I would talk about how inconsistent the online was on the PS3, or how lame the story was even compared to prior entries or I don't even know I think I said everything I hate about it tbh. I liked the DLC though, it was pretty alright. Sorry, I have such strong feelings about the game, but your opinion is quite the minority Nateeeeeeeeeeeeee. At least Raccoon City plays like a shooter and controls like one, instead of RE5. God, RE5 was such a huge disappointment for me it's unbelievable, the only way I played through the game is because it had co-op. For the record, my favorite RE game is Code Veronica.
I've never understood the hate towards RE5. It's the move that the developers started in RE4, yet that is considered gold. With many of the same gameplay elements, a very sub-par addition to the story (the RE4 portion of everything was kind of balls), and just a very experimental feel, RE4 wasn't that great. Like I said, it has FF7 syndrome. It is granted for being far greater than it actually is, and because of that, a later game just can't be called good in comparison. Honestly, I have lots of fun doing a co-op play through(s), and the two extra chapters granted by DLC really show the extremes that RE5 could have been taken to. Lost in Nightmares is kind of a throwback with actual exploration, some (fairly weak in my opinion) puzzles, and just a kind of shit in your pants feel that is generally generated on first plays of the original RE games, as something jumps out of nowhere that is three times your size (maybe not anymore due to the limits of the PS graphics, but the Gamecube remakes do an excellent job). In the end though, fighting Wesker in that backroom on Professional with those measly amounts of ammo, or trying to lead the monsters around in the deep of the sewers, it feels very old school. Then, you have Desperate Escape which is truly run and gun. No strategy (except maybe picking which places to hide and run from), straight up run and gun. I personally dislike this one, there is no sense of exploration, as the parasite infested enemies just don't leave you alone. It just isn't fun. It feels like more of a chore to go through than the original RE games to a puzzle hater. I dislike the Mercenaries mode for the same reason. It is run and gun, but with a time limit instated. It's boring, tedious, whatever you want to call it. The story in RE5 is also so much more relevant to tying up loose ends, while granting progression. Although the likes of Ada Wong and H.U.N.K are missing, even at this point, their purpose is still very unclear in the grand scheme of things. I mean, the history of RE that is in RE5 barely even tosses a bone to the events that transpired in RE4. Everything about it feels more, well, Resident Evil important. I may be proven wrong there with the next official installation (not the 3DS one, as that's a prequal, but whatever happens after), but as it stands now, RE5 has shown more significance here and now. As a point for the game play: the initial play through is not all that run and gun, and it provides a very survival at all costs feel. Playing with two people on PS3 is an absolute nightmare, as you have to share all of the money for two sets of weaponry. At least they incorporated two profile simultaneous sign in on the 360 version. Back to the point, they don't just throw ammo at you (unless you deprive your partner), and money to consistently upgrade isn't easy to find unless you are pro at treasure hunting. The idea that the game makes it easy for you is fairly laughable, especially on higher difficulties. The final boss is touchy as hell though. A movement from Sheva in the wrong way too early is an auto-death as the game decides that she just can't hold on to the ledge, or bullets stop affecting Wesker as he throws Chris off into the lava. The main point I'm trying to drive home though, is that the game gets far more flak than it deserves all over a game with FF7 syndrome.
oh another biohazard poll? im voting out for the first resident evil, but i enjoyed playing survival horror most in its remake at gamecube. RE2 & code veronica was great too especially being a huge fan of the redfields. also RE4 was fun. RE3 was too easy (not much fan of jill lol). RE5 was not so bad, and RE Zero was the least i liked (gameplay was a bit difficult and storyline was soo boring, well at least for me).
