So yeah, this is for Windows only. The Tiny XP/Vista/7, Micro-X, Darker 7, and Black XP/Vista (not eternity) are pre-activated, or illegal, and I do not support it, PLUS RomU doesn't allow posting links or requesting links for activators or illegal software, so be warned, i know how to click the report to mod button. All the rest are genuine editions, as they are required to buy a genuine key from Microsoft, so you can share those if you wish (cause I won't ;D). You can vote twice for your favorite modded OS. Mine is Windows 7 ATI. Cool interface and much faster, but needs a hard core PC to run well. You should have a good av and firewall on anything hacked, since usually UAC is removed. I don't use the Tiny versions since the driver compatibility sucks, and it strips some features I enjoy. Darker 7 and Black Editions suck badly, never using again. Vista Black Eternity, Vista Darker, Windows 7 Eternity, ATI, or NVIDIA editions are the ones you should try.
I use WinLite, which is a custom installation of my own WinXP install disc. It is very fast and trustworthy on my system. I use TinyXP Beast Edition on older computers (like the one I just did) so that they run real fast and smooth. I use Tiny7 on netbooks/laptops because they are generally newer and have enough ram to handle Tiny7. Tiny Vista is ok, but I never really used it.
If you downgrade from normal vista to TinyXP (which is what I did) TinYXP uses XP only drivers, and some of the hardware is incompatible with that, since they were designed for Vista. Plus, the other editions don't receive drivers online during installation.
To add about the curiosity of modded OS, like tiny xp,vista, 7... what are the useless parts that are removed? If its even possible, i want a list. or should i make a thread about it? But in my opinion, its just a simple question so a thread wont be needed about it, right?
really? there is no paint, solitaire, minesweeper and pinball on the tiny os'es? i use those... so, maybe i will not like tiny xp then...
It actually depends on the exact modified version you get. Some may have bits removed, some have stuff added (service packs, hotfixes, maybe some programs, maybe a directx update etc) some will have certain preconfigured settings. As a couple of examples, I have an image of a modded windows that is geared entirely towards audio creation work, according to the nfo: Code: No IExplore, Net Services, Firewall.... Clean and stable Windows XP PRO SP2 ISO CD installation that consumes only 40MB of RAM!!! No need for Activation, no need for entering any Serial Information !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DO NOT TRY TO USE IT FOR ANY OTHER PURPOSES THAN DAW ¯ OR THIS WINDOWS WILL CRASH!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and another which is a hybrid of server 2003 and two windows XP versions: Code: Hybrid OS was an os I worked on some time ago when I mixed some of Microsofts better OSes into Hybrid Windows. Hybrid OS is a Universal Ghost image of Windows 2003 sp2 with hotfixes till april 07, Media Center Edition and Tablet PC Edition. Hybrid OS has been tweaked to use as little resources as possible while still allowing you the extras of Media Center and Tablet PC. This OS uses about 90mb of ram. Regtweaks have been applied to allow Media Center playback without a supported video card. This CD does not support upgrades. Clean installs only. theres no one set of rules that modified OSes follow, and they all go to different levels. The tinyXP I tried was so stripped down it couldnt run directx or microsoft office.
I've just recently installed TinyXP Rev09 on my Compaq Presario (700MHZ CPU, 256MB RAM) it runs twice as good as when I had retail XP installed on it
I use the normal one, the Windows 7 Ultimate x86, well the original here is R$500,00, so guess what, I'm not rich hehehehe. Back in Windows XP I didn't have used any crack and such, I've used trial and then I've edited somethings in REGEDIT and then generated a keygen, much pretty easier hehehe. I only use pirated softwares, I can even update my windows without the annoyin "fake windows" messege, I've removed the WAT of it. (yes in XP was WGA, but now is WAT). That's how I install and format customer's PCs when they hire me. The diference is that microsoft recognizes it as original product. And for slow machines I use the Ghost version of XP, that uses the Win98's engine, but the features is XP's.
