So you think a non-final product will be better than Vista?

from what I've seen so far, it is. Server 2003 is my favourite windows OS, linux wise I like SuSe and mandriva for desktops, and fedora core for servers.

Vista has some nice aesthetics, so far I have had no issues with it, please explain to me why it is so bad and that why and older system is better

it uses an insane amount of resources and its compatibility is notoriously poor, something which microsoft acknowledged.

Yet it seems to be able to run most programmes fine depending on how good your computer is

Not programs that need every MB of memory they can get. Try one of those programs and you'll see a massive difference between an OS that uses 1GB and an OS that barely uses 200MB.

I'm using XP, but I don't worship it though, I just prefer it because it's a bit friendlier than Vista when running emulators.

Isn't that a baseless, biased statement?

No, vista has great difficulty running a lot of programs that XP could run, not just games. Microsoft have officially acknowledged that vista's compatibility is significantly below par.
