I recently bought a 16GB memory stick for $70AUD from ebay, I was willing to pay this much as it's cheaper than the 8GB I bought previously, and since it was one of the few sellers that had a high rating and amount of sales listed.

Thing is, I have my doubts if this is legit.

I have some pics to show, however...

How long until this stick dies-if it last me 2 years I'll be fine with it, it seems to read just fine on my psp.

    Any ideas?

Now I'll do some photos, here is just one, the included card adapter, in comparison with the one I got in a local big chain retail store.

Top one is what I'm suspecting of being a fake

Once I get thumb nails I will post all pics.

its not a real memory stick, its an adaptor for using a microSD in a memory stick slot. It has no capacity without a microSD card.

Um...that was one of the first 3 pics. I did mention this came with it.

I see no point posting more pics-it says on the psp that the magicgate is "UNKNOWN"

    So it's fake...

What is the life span on these?

Fakes have a different capacity for starters. They are cheaper, slower but I dont know if the longevity of it is reduced...

It reads as 15GB on my psp...

But to be safe, I've chosen to return to the seller...I dislike to because I got no clue how this works, but I am willing to.

I'll give him bad rep to warn others-even if he's fast to reply to the issue.

15GB is correct. its because storage devices are sold using the 1000bytes = 1kB definition, which isn't correct for computers (1024bytes = 1kB). This was done to rip consumers off without them realising, but now storage capacities are so high its obvious. This is why a 1TB disk (sold as 1000GB) only has 965GB usable space

    Correct as always :)

    [me=hYpNoS]checks his drives[/me]

Because the magic gate protection is listed as unknown on my psp, I think I'll get rid of it and...just buy a 4GB for my incoming 3000

I don't see anything good to buy over psn anyway.

THanks all, sorry I forgot to check the magic gate protection XD

I saw those guides, one version was on ebay.

But the magic gate protection is listed as "unknown" on my psp, one way of spotting it once in hand, another as I thought...was from what I saw and why I suspected it.

I think them fake ones sell for a 1/4 of the price as a genuine one.So as long as they last a 1/4 of the time and game play isnt affected, then youve not lost out on anything.

    Mine was $70...

The 8GB I bought long ago was $99

...I hoped it was legit because of the price-I could have went to the local markets and paid $30 for one of these fakes!
