I agree, but nearly all of my friends use Facebook instead of MSN, so I'm sorta forced to use Facebook if I want to talk to somebody.
Here in Brazil only 8% of the people only use facebook against 45% that use orkut (by Google). BTW Orkut sucks and Brazil is the country in the world that spends most of it's time on social networks....
FB chat will lag regardless of browser once the chat box gets too full. It seems around the limit when it starts deleting older messages from the history is the point that it starts lagging. Clearing the chat box using the option at the top of the chat box tends to fix the lag issues.
I do that, doesn't help. A friend of mine used to have same issue but then he used this new browser..flock? Google chrome and firefox's plugins combined he reckons :
