F-zero Climax error

    Using it on a VBA emulator, version 1.8.0.603. The game turn on and runs fine with no problems. The problem I'm having is occasionally when I turn the game on, it gives me this screen (can't read the japanese).

    After that screen, when I reach the main menu my file has been erased, and the save state I made doesn't go to where I had it, and also starts the game with no files. Any clue what's causing this erasing of itself? No other game I have does this to me.
