OK here's the problem... whenever i point my mouse on an AVI file or open or click, explorer just crashes! Here's a screenshot. then the desktop goes away for a few seconds and pops right back up... What's causing this problem and how do I fix it? Specs: Windows XP Home Edition SP3 Intel Pentium 4 CPU 1.60 GHz 1 GB RAM
*EDIT - ........it was all a quote! virus maybe? i don't know..as i don't use xp for internet or much else, but it may be that...just run a thorough virus scan and if nothing comes up, then it may be a bug in the system. also try MPlayer for windows...it's a freeware video player that runs nearly every video and audio format that i can think of!! then the desktop goes away for a few seconds and pops right back up... What's causing this problem and how do I fix it?
The true question is... Is you computer up to date? What Software are you using to Open Media Files? What version of media software are you using? Its really hard to troubleshoot an issue without knowing all the details.
i fixed it with this command regsvr32 /u shmedia.dll it removed the vid preview and fixed the explorer crash
