Expanding ROMs for patch translations

Since it's ok to post links to Romhacking.net, I guess I can ask this question.

I just got the latest translation patch for the NES game Romancia, but when I read the patch file readme, it said that I must first expand the ROM. Tis isn't the first time I encountered this, there are other translation patches that ask you to expand the target ROM. I can't find the tool for expanding ROMs on their search database, as I don't know the exact name of the tool I'm supposed to be looking for, can anyone help me out & oh I use LunarIPS as my patching tool

 

Don't you mean LunarIPS? Are you talking about Dragon Slayer Jr. Romancia?

Yes I use LunarIPS & yes I was talking about Romancia, Shell Monsters Story & The genius Bokabon are also ROMs you need to expand.

I got this expanding tool that was bundled with the Shell Monsters Story patch but I can't run it, it had this error saying it was looking for some OCX... something that I don't have, I think

 

Oh right, some of the tools, you will need additional system files, so if the error says you need 123etc.OCX, google the wholename and download and register it. What .OCX was it?

Anyway I'll just follow what you said, I'll just redownload the Shell Monsters Story patch then I'll activate the expander then search what OCX it was looking for, thanks anandjones, you're a total life saver
