I receive a mail from gamezway.com,which says that there will be a new nintendo ds flashcart soon.its name is EX4 DS,EX means excellent,so I guess it aims to the medium or upper class of nds flashcart.
mail also lists some features:

Your wrong.They can add Hardware needed to the flashcart to play GBA Games.I Player is a slot 1 flashcart but it only plays GBA Games.If something like that exists of course a flashcart that can play GBA games without an expansion is possible.

No, it has a variety of codecs that it can play.

It can be updated to play more too I think.
